Volunteers NEEDED

This Saturday Oct. 1st, I would like to call an informal meeting for DCMM members who want to be more active in the Club. I'll have an informal mtg. at my place in Annapolis around 11:30 am to see if we can recruit some volunteers (web, hospitality, events, etc.)

We need everyone’s help to have fun and to make the DCMM stronger so if you are willing to spend a few hours per month to help out come by this Saturday. Bring a folding chair (if you have one) and some ideas. Coffee and muffins will be available.

The address is 34 Maryland AveAnnapolis, MD.

Downtown parking can be tricky but not too bad. We have parking meters in front of our place and there is free parking (9 hrs) on Prince George Street by St. John’s College (2 blocks from Maryland Ave).

Feel free to call me for details and/or directions.

I would be there but...

This weekend is a walk for Breast Cancer in PA, I've promised to walk in support of my Aunt, a survivor...

Sorry! I'd be there if I could!

Sorry that I can't make it. This weekend is my wife's birthday and we have plans.

I'll let you know sometime today or tomorrow if I'll be able to switch my scheduled around at work to come in later so I can make it. If not, I'll be able to make the Sat. Oct 8th one.

Does this mean you're volunteering to be member volunteer co-ordinator?
What's the agenda for the meetings? Do you have specific goals in mind? How will you maintain momentum..especially being gone for 3 weeks?
I think it's a good idea, but all of the above have to be addressed. I'll come to the meeting this Saturday, and see what we can accomplish, providing people show up....

I don't have a set agenda it's more of a brainstorming get together to see what people can do to help us: Retain and increase membership, help Bruce with the web site, new ideas for events etc.

Do you have specific goals in mind? How will you maintain momentum..especially being gone for 3 weeks? You are right but at least having two mtgs. one in Annapolis and one in DC will gather (I hope) people and ideas. I'll checking in from UK and Italy but three weeks it's not a huge amount of time plus I can be bitchy from overseas too

Let's see who shows up on Saturday in Annapolis maybe we can start w/ a plan that can be carried over the following Saturday

I'd like to come to one or both meetings, but I can't be sure just yet of my availability. I'll let you know when I can... besides, it'll be cool to check out James and Marina's digs.

Slight change to meeting on Saturday the 8th! I was well on my way working with Mike (of valnmike), setting up an event for the 8th. Since I apparently can't read my email, I missed the message sent to me from Marina (LaStrega) about meeting up on the 8th. So with her permission (I know better than to mess with Marinas' plans without asking her! ), the meeting will likely be moved to Sunday the 9th, and the driving event will be held on the 8th. The time for the meeting is still to be determined.

Sorry for the confusion!

-Paul!

WHEW! I was about to post in the other October 8 thread about the conflict. Glad you picked up on it Paul. Unfortunately though, I may not be able to make it to the meeting on October 9... but that just means I'll try harder to make it to the October 1 one.

Sorry, but I won't be able to make it either this Saturday. Can't get anyone to cover my morning shift for me.

Marina...maybe you need to reschedule your meetings. Perhaps for after you return from Misano. That way, folks have a bit more time to juggle their own schedules. Just a thought.

As per your suggestion I will cancel the meetings: unforturnately I will not be available upon returning from Europe. I'll be back on Nov. 11 and must work to check up for the lost time , then there is Thanksgiving and people will be very busy with the Holiday Season. Maybe some of you can meet during my vacation, but please we need to get some volunteers !!!!

Paul (correct me if I am wrong) was hoping to schedule an eating event (lunch or dinner or drinks) specifically for people interested in volunteering. Why don't we try to schedule that in early November, since October is very full with events now. Perhaps it could take place instead of the breakfast on the 19th or the following weekend?

Let's do lunch, pssibly on the 19th? If we do, let's find something that's equidistant from NoVa/Annapolis.

Katie,

I'm guessing that would probably be pretty close to DC then. With some members coming from as far out as Manassas, it almost cancels out the easterly pull of Annapolis & Baltimore...

The question is, where close to DC will we find a suitable place with ample parking?

Or we could try to find something in College Park, Bethesda, even Rockville/Gaithersburg. Rossyln VA is about as close to DC as you can get and there are quite a few parking garages over there.

Or we could do this two months in a row and have one be in MD and the next in VA.

Actually, Montgomery County would be nice for one additional reason - no smoking. Always nice to go to a bar or restaurant there and not have to worry about walking out smelling like an ashtray.

But I'm open to whenever or wherever it happens to be.
