Mini of Sterling had an event at that same place in 2002.
They had food, and the racing was free. If I recall, you get a 10 minute race, where you get about 24 laps in. Doesnt seem like much, but after a race, I wasnt sure if I could physically do it again!
Prior to the 'open racing', they had an autocross driver take an EB S around the gocart track, giving people rides. Lots of screaching. It was wicked.
I remember Crystal announcing that Mini would be coming out with a convertible.

Not Enough People!!!!

Ok based on the responses I've seen in this thread we don't have enough people to make this work We need a minimum of 18 and based on the responses here we only have 8.

Those who've actually said they are in are:
Edge
mdsbrain
mmatarella
Void
Beanbag
CmdrVimes
Me+2

There have been several other people who've chimed in and made some remarks, but nobody else has actually said they're coming...

Here's the deal, if we can't get 18 by Friday we're going to have to call it off....

And that $60 is for members only, it will be more for non-members...

Yes it's a lot, but we're also not talking about amusement park type go-carts either.

As a reminder $60 is the DCMM members price, non-members will probably pay $80, but that number hasn't been finalized yet.

Well see that's part of the problem... We can't reserve a date until we can front the non-refundable deposit.

The club really doesn't want to take people's money and then sit on it in the hopes of getting enough people... Nor does the club want to take the huge financial hit of fronting the money, only to have a half dozen people show up...

Yep, it's not an easy thing. For example, I can't make it on the originally proposed weekend (Aug. 20/21), but I can make it on the prior weekend (Aug 13/14), or the following weekend (Aug 27/28).

I'm still in if the details work out, but I'd be more interested in trying to have some kind of autocross event, but I'm not sure of the venue/costs/legalities. I know that parking lot autocrosses aren't completely out of the question though, becuase it happens all over the place with other (SCCA-oriented) clubs. I even used to autocross my Mustang with the Mercedes club (weird, I know... but they were friendly and welcoming).

Werd., what he ^ said Kat will be attending if it's not the weekend of Aug 27/28. I'll be in NC for a family reunion.

This is exciting! I've never been REAL go-karting!

Where's a crazy smily when you need it?!

Well, payday has come and gone (yippee!), and we still haven't made this happen.

If you want my funds, regardless of date for selected event, you've got 'em. I want this to happen, even if we haven't set a firm date.

I am working what seems like every weekend this summer. I would be all over this otherwise.

Kart Racing @ Allsports

Is this event a go? Sorry I missed the cutoff as I would participate. In fact, there is are photos of my MCS at Allsports - at Summit Point and on the kart track at Allsports.

This event has died in planning. We might try again at a later date, but as of now there isn't enough interest to reserve the track for the event....

Too bad - but how about this. I race in the Porsche Club League in the winter and we have practice and informal racing during the rest of the year, on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

WE ARE RACING TONIGHT.

I invite all Mini owners to come race with us tonight - we generally run a number of races (about 100 laps in total) a night at a cost of $65.

Krut said he's interested in going, and I'd go if he's going... But I suppose it's too late now. Didn't realize the deadline date was upon us.

Never too late. Just show up before 7pm tonight and race with us. Nothing else necessary, suits, gloves and helmets provided. Look for my Dark Silver/Black MCS out front (SUPRCPR).
