I just got a membership card and a letter.
Is that all that is in the "package"
Honestly, I think the membership card needs some improvement.

The card comes out first so that you can present it for discounts.

The full packet comes about 6 to 8 weeks later

I do the best I can with making the cards, sorry that you are disappointed.

What, exactly, could we do to improve the membership cards other than putting screen names on them?

They're printed on home computers, so if it's the quality you object to, there's not much that can be done about that. Like Jen said, we do the best we can with what we have.

The package is a nice little thing that requires a LOT of work.

Please be kind with us, Jen works really hard to print membership cards, order T-shirts,clings etc, going to the Post Office, dealing with vendors etc.

Putting events together requires work, putting a package together requires work, keeping the financial information in order requires work, coordinating people requires work....

We can always improve with the help of volunteers ....

MD STREGA2

PS: See you on the 3rd

I guess the reason for the complaint over the welcome package is for the money some people expect more. But I don't see it that way. I understand that our yearly dues do go to other things besides a name tag and a t-shirt.

The reason the cost to join events during the year is low due to our dues. Also isn't the club involved in having some kind of insurance?

Am I right?

I am not disappointed! I like how it comes laminated. Definitly a lot of work done to it. Just trying to make a suggestion as I couldn't read half of what was written on the card because it was all smeared up. I bet that inkjet printer is from last century..
Can't wait for the package. I was actually surprised when the membership application asked for a t-shirt size.

Have I told you lately that I love you?

Actually, the membership covers lots of things - the cost of the t-shirt and goodie package. Our club liability insurance policy. Offsetting event costs. Printing club brochures, business cards. The list goes on and on. Mostly, joining and paying says that you support the club and are willing to put some money toward making it better.

Most of the club's income comes from our membership fees. All of the club's income goes towards the club. The welcome packet is just a way for the club to say "thank you" for joining. Much like the gifts you get for becoming a member of your local PBS station.

.....and on, and on and on
As it was said before, it's all done by a volunteer board, mostly.
So, VoiD, if you would like to help out, we'd appreciate it, big time.
Just out of curiosity, what century is your printer?

Sure I could help with printing the membership cards.. I'll also ask my graphics designer friend if he can come up with something nice.

My printer is 3 years old but it can still print better dpi.

Got my new membership card the other day, thank you Jen!
And, while I do work a lot, in the future, I would like to help with things if I can. Im very artsy. There is more I can do than make MINI shaped cookies. I could help with designing future membership cards, t-shirts, decorating of cars for parades, etc. I have a BFA from Pratt Institute, so please let me put it to good use.

Unfortunately no. My degree is in Fashion.
I think the web site so far looks really good anyway.

Shucks... Actually Bruce does a great job on the website for us, but he's always looking for help with it...
