Cetianly not too late.

I figure most ya / nay's will come in the last two days which is fine.

I expect to go to Costco or such and buy the burgers, dogs, and brats on Friday the 22nd. So I'm looking for most 'RSVP's by then. I'll have ice and soft drinks too. If anyone wants a stronger drink I'll ask you to BYOB...

As far as the 'bring along dish' for the potluck part I'd say if you want to co ordinate just chime in here with what you're bringing and we'll use the thread to compare notes. MMMM, 6 different tuna noodle casseroles

I've got a video of the Dragon I bought at the 'Crossroads of Time' (store near the end of the Dragon for those of you who haven't been there) too, it was shot from some motorcycles. I'm going to edit out the boring runs and leave just the good bits.

I'm hoping to put together a playlist of a lot of the MINI commercials I've downloaded from the net. They are a mix of quicktime and avi's though. I'm playing with some free tools to try to convert all to avi so I can just leave them running on a video projector. I HOPE nobody is bored enough to sit and watch for a extended period  . I just wanted MINI stuff running on the two TV's and computer in the backround for 'ambiance'

I think I'm going to blow off the slot cars. I've got a pool table and I'd probably need to set them up on that. I think more people can enjoy the pool table at once than slot cars.

... Lastly, I'm proud to say I maintain a video game free home. I've had some offers along those lines to bring something but I think that ends up with one or two people engrossed in the game to the exclusion of the overall social goings on.

When coming, just look for the new MINI flag , and one or two counterfeit MINI's to help you find us vs some other house on the street with a slew of MINI's parked.

Looking forward to it!
Mark

I have a plan to make some Mac & Cheese (with tomatoes and such in it). Sorry, no German Potato Salad this time.

Morning,

As I mentioned to some of you at the breakfast yesterday, I'm about to be on my way to San Diego for a week (poor me ). I'll be back in time to make the BBQ, but I'll be late. So, I won't be able to run the route through Old Town Alexandria. The route is set up and done though, so if anyone wants to take the helm, either speak up in here or send me a PM.

It's a pretty simple route to lead. You just have to take it slow through Old Town, and keep in mind that it will be nigh impossible to keep everyone together! But the directions are simple, so it shouldn't be a problem (and there's a map included). And as I mention in the route sheet, you can all gather back up on the GW parkway.

I would recommend that the group leaves from the Belle Haven Park/Marina at 1 PM. That should get you all to Marks at 2.

Anyway, all of the directions are contained in the route sheet! Enjoy, and have fun!

Paul,

There's a great thai restaurant in Old Town San Diego, and fantastic, inexpensive sushi just down the street from Horton Plaza. Place is called "Sushi To Go".

Their vegetable tempura is outstanding, as well. Huge portions, well-made and inexpensive.

By your description that sounds Japanese, not Thai

I am at the beach in North Carolina and coming up that day. I'll try and stop by... do you all need any beach type snacks, like salt water taffy, peanunts, etc?

It'll be Saturday, July 23rd at 3453 Little Hunting Creek Drive in Alexandria VA. It's about a mile from Mt Vernon. I'm thinking starting around 2 p.m. and running till... Well the next days Sunday so who cares till when? Till the last person leaves.

I want my neighbors who laugh at my compulsive car washing to see that I'm not the only MINI nut out there.

No rain date needed as I've got a nice covered porch and rec room so we need not fear the weather.

I'll be doing burgers, dogs, and Brats on the grill and have bread and condiments. I'll ask folks to bring a dish to fill in from there.

I'll edit this as I plan further, but I expect for fun:
both the new and classic Italian Job movies to be screening inside, shooting a little pool,
Having a Dragon pictures slideshow running,
maybe swapping Dragon pics too? bring your CD and take one of mine?
and hopefully a MINI cooper slot car set up,
and whateve else I or you dream up 'tween no and then.

We can also have a car wash party out front like was planned last month-ish. We can probably get 6 MINIs in the driveway at a time. If you're nice I'll even let you try my Mr. Clean autodry car wash ;-) No well water!

Please reply here or email me so I can get a apoximate head count. I like bratwurst but don't want to eat them for a month.

If someone wants to brainstorm a drive in the area... Else, while it's not challenging or spirited the drive down the GW parkway from Oldtown Alexandria is very pretty.

=============================================
I'll post complete directions here soon. But to give you a idea, it's a mile and a half from Mt Vernon.

RSVP'ing....

I am trying to come to the BBQ. So please add 2 more to your count. I am a new member (no mini yet - on order) and hoping to meet some people and see some cool mini's (hopefully see an astro black mini in person).

I am going to try to make some choco-peanut butter candy too. It tastes like a peanut butter cup.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Another two hour road trip? Whew! Count me in as a possibility... also with a maybe guest. Just gotta bring extra pillows, because this would mean we'll both have alot of seat time coordinating picking each other up, and dropping off.

Although, my guest was excited about the slot car track, because we have all three italian job slot cars for 2 scalextric tracks... one is digital with lane changes and stuff:smile:

Ok, so i made him get it. I got him one of the MINIs for his birthday, and he bought the rest.

OK, you can drop the "guest" routine... we all know he's your boyfriend.

Incidentally, Alexandria is a lot closer to the Richmond area than Manassas, so the drive time will probably be easier than when you came up last time.

1h55m from his house... and that's after i drive an hour to house and pick him up.

1h25m from my house... he'd have to drive an hour to my house before take off.

1h40m from my moms... that's after i drive 40 mins there, and he drives 30 mins to meet me there. Good medium.

And ok, he's a boyfriend. But it's more fun calling him guest, because he won't hurry up and pay off the miata so he can get his PW S

stuff that survives the trip...

You can always just stop at a Grocery store when you're almost here and grab some store bought tater salad or something... So you don't have to keep something cold all the way...
