I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think that weather.com predicted snow correctly once this winter!

Besides, given how warm it is, even if it does snow everything just going to be wet...

It was great to meet many of you there, and check out your cars (although I really didn't get enough time to appreciate them all!).

After I return from my trip, I look forward to future events, in particular the actual driving ones!

My main problem is going to be remembering faces to names, I'm terrible at it, so please forgive me if I take a little while to figure it out. I also know I didn't get to meet as many people as I'd have liked, but there were a lot of people there, and so many MINIs to see!

Jen... you somehow managed to slip away without me seeing you, so I guess I'll have to mail the check after all. Shall I send it to Mark?

Was

really cool to see so many different looking Mini's don't think I saw one that looked alike. Would have been nicer if was light outside so easier to enjoy them. Overall it was a pretty nice event. 2 Thumbs up for the wraps they ordered.

*note to self* Don't go the wrong way on 95 heading home! Ya I know I have the Mini Nav ststem, I swear I dunno how I ended up on 95 North.

Let me guess... assuming you were using the Nav system (I sure did!), you misunderstood the left turn onto 695, after leaving the dealership. The first left turn took you the wrong way (and there was a BIG sign saying "695" on it too), you had to go PAST that exit and take the second left.

I almost made the same mistake, but I realized from the Nav that I still had a few hundred feet before the turn.

Of course I'm assuming you actually did use the Nav, and didn't just guess on the way to get home.

I LOVE MY NAV - so glad I splurged on it. Finding the Towson dealership tonight would have been MUCH harder without it (especially getting away from the traffic, taking alternate routes). Same with getting home.

What a nice night out at Towson yesterday! The event was well organized, the folks at Towson took good care of us and we had a good turnout of DCMM members. We even won some prizes - including Mel who took home the big prize of the Ipod and installation!

Welcome to our new members signed up at the event:

Jennifer
Matt
Byron

and Edge, sorry, I looked for you and could not find you. Please mail the check or if you can come out to Tate on Saturday I will be there.

hmm

That might have happened. Sometimes when the Nav system says turn in 600 feet it looks like your at the exit now when there is really another one coming up. It was great for getting there though because 495/95 was a mess, I ended up telling it no Highways and it took me the backroads, 29 to route 40 and such.

Good things do happen..

Hello All,

It was great seeing everyone again last night, I'm slowly starting to match names and faces, I can now identify Paul!, Jen, and KGDblu without resorting to myopic gazes at DCMM Nametags :-)

Thanks to Jen and the other individual who made change last, night, I'm now in the rolls.

Seems membership has its advantages..I come home from MINI Towson, and my MINI has just entered production status! Yes! Looking at 25 March for my MINI's first steps..

I'll probably post in the "Spring Deliveries" thread again, and have a request for the folks here. Anybody got a MINI front bra they can loan out? I need something to keep the front end clean until I can get my ride to Pro Form up in Ellicott City.

Cheers,
Matthew Z.

Yes, it was a good turnout. Once Jen and I got the info table in it's place, stuff just flew off it. Towson MINI was very gracious in that they mentioned the club's name several times during announcements, and were very accomodating.
Too bad Tate can't get their act together to do something like this. I approached Rick about it, and his excuse was "We don't have enough parking" Their loss.
Many thanks to the members who showed up, to Jen for "working" the info table and bringing flyers, and welcome to the new members!!

I just want to clarify one thing...
I DID NOT WIN 2 THINGS.
I won the stuffed dog, my friend Dave (who had to go home early and does not have a Mini) won the Mini Keychain.
Anyway, last night was loads of fun, ended up talking to Tom and (new) Matt a bit. Got a couple things taken car of for my car too.

Seems to me like that scene gets less and less informative (and therefore less entertaining) each time. I guess you can only introduce mods and talk about simple tech stuff so many times, though.

Jen, it was nice to see you there.

I was tickled by the appearance that some of the JCW parts made. You know, they really have a market. Someone thought that the suspension stuff was adjustable coilovers and that there was a thicker rear bar on the HB car.

Big brake kit wasn't too shabby. I imagine that the shiny red calipers made 'em drool.

I enjoyed getting a few moments to chat with folks. I have to hand it to Chuck Joffe, because even though I get pretty tired of listening to him, he *does* have to communicate to people on many different levels of knowledge.

When is the next DRIVE?

M

Uh oh. I knew these walls had ears.

Maybe you can go undercover and find out if you guys have some 15" take-off wheels of which I could relieve you.

THX Will.

Marty

PS Is Barry over @ BMW now?

Grumbler,

NAV system....who needs that silly nav system, google maps......big, bang, boom....right there, then I asked a couple where the heck I was, and U-turn, left, right and shazam, there I am.
I've got news for you... who produces the Google maps? NAVTEQ. Who produces the BMW/MINI Nav map discs? NAVTEQ. The only difference right now is that Google's are more up to date, because they have the 2005 maps, whereas the currently available navigation CDs & DVDs are dated 2003. The 2005 update is due out in early April...

And I'll tell you one thing - having dynamically updated map changes, even if you turn a different direction (such as to bypass traffic) is a blessing that can never be matched by manual maps, short of having a copilot there, or knowing the area yourself like the back of your hand!

Not to mention that NOT having to stop and ask for directions (or even your current location) is priceless, especially when you're in a hurry.

Sure, it's $1700 spent, but for the life of the car, it's worth every penny in my book. Besides, it's rolled into the payments

That NAV defenitely would have come in handy IN England when my copilot kept getting us lost.. so we had to stop and ask for directions!! Too funny

Was great meeting everybody at the Towson Mini event. I learned a lot of new things about my MCS (red w/ black bonnet stripes, black roof). Thanks for inviting me to the event Paul!, and it was nice meeting you too Edge. Great car
