Hip, Hip, Hooray!

I just found out this morning that my Mini Cooper Converitible is "awaiting transport".

Lucky for me Mini of Sterling attempted to change a car from the first group coming in to match what I wanted on the car. Alas, Mini notified them the car was too far into the production cycle to change it to the exact car I wanted: Mini Cooper Convertible, Cool Blue, Premium Package, Sport Seats, Dark Blue Leather Seats with contrast stitching and Anthracite interior. So a second order was placed.

The dealer checked the status of the first car yesterday and called me to tell me the first car was completed and that the only difference between what I ordered and the car that was complete was the completed car has a silver dash. After thinking about getting a car three weeks earlier, I realized that the silver dash will probably look better in a car with dark blue leather and a dark blue top. So the dealer has substituted the original car for my order.

Hopefully they get the sucker on a ship quickly and it gets here by September 15. So my new Mini will be:

Mini Cooper Convertible, Cool Blue, Premium Package, Sport Seats, Dark Blue Leather Seats with contrast stitching and Silver interior.

Anxiously awaiting my "ragtop"...

Even got the shipping info

Well, I wandered over to the www.mini2.com site and found out how to track the shipping of the Mini "across the pond".

Seems that, according to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site that my car was booked for shipping at 10:30 AM on August 23 and is "Ready to Scan at Terminal" on August 24 at 7:30 PM.

They even have the voyage scheduled and it appears the ship is scheduled to leave Southampton on August 28 and arrive in New York on September 7. Hopefully I should get the car by September 15!

You will become totally addicited to tracking your car all the way across the ocean. I followed my hubby's new MCS all the way across and even downloaded the picture of the ship!

Congratulations! Great color choice BTW. I think the Cool Blue will indeed be very . Not too much longer to go for you now before you'll be motoring.

My parents' Purple Haze Cooper Convertible is also listed at "Awaiting Transport" but according to the WW website it is not yet scheduled on a ship . In due time however...

- Black roof
- Black leatherette interior
- Anthracite trim

Told the dealer

Well I called my salesman today and told him the car is scheduled on the ship leaving August 28 and arriving in NY on September 7.

He said if everything goes absolutely perfect the car will be delivered to the Mini USA Center in NJ on the 7th, go through QC and leave the afternoon/evening of the 8th or on the 9th and get to the dealership by the morning of the 9/10. They would then have that day to install the CD changer and Alarm system and I could pick up the car on Saturday morning.

If it's ready for Saturday pickup I'll be there while the doors are still locked to the dealership!
