[Saturday, July 26] Guinness World Record
well, seeing as it is on the rockahock website, one would assume it has been confirmed. then again, we all know what happens when we assume...
but i think it's a safe bet that it will happen on that day. it's pretty close and no changes, here's hoping.

Yeah, there's more info listed under National Events... it's definitely happening. =) =) Yay!
I will be there +1 but haven't booked anywhere to stay yet. The Ramada that's recommended in Williamsburg got really crappy reviews. Has anyone else found other nearby hotels that got better reviews at a reasonable price??? I dont want to stay in a crappy hotel.

This sounds really fun.....
We need more concrete information from the organizer though.
The event is around the corner, hope the full detail of the event will come out soon.
There is a tentative participants list for DCMM on the calendar. Please don't forget to have your name on the list.

on hotels and food anyway.
For those that are looking for more information on this, you should go to the link that's listed under the "National Events" section of NAM. It's definitely still happening on July 26th. It's a whole day event from 9am until midnight, with the 'parade' starting at 2pm (for breaking the record).
I think there are still rooms available at the Ramada Inn on Richmond Road (Williamsburg) for about $60/night. I still haven't booked my room yet and will need to call and get more info on the Ramada soon. When i find out the latest, i'll post the info!

All of the details are in our RSVP post and in the National Events forum for the GWR 500 Event. It IS confirmed. We have a claim number with GWR and everything!
We should definitely motor together. Mr.Magoo gave us a great "scenic" route and I'm just happy not to have to take I-95!

Or ones can go to: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...1&postcount=29 as well.
Here is some of the basic information, edited, and re-posted for your convenience (credit to Warped1966 and others for the original info):
WHAT: GWR 500. Seven Cities MINI and HRMINI along with support from neighboring clubs in North Carolina, DC and Pennsylvania will be hosting another attempt at the Guinness World Record for “most” MINIs / Minis in a parade. The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation to benefit the families of fallen Navy SEALs.
In June 2007, C7M, HRMINI, DC METRO MINIS and members from other surrounding clubs set the record at 273, which is the Official Guinness World Record! England attempted to take the record back last August but missed by a mere 3 cars! It is time to show some American pride and break our own world record and keep it in the USA! This year, to raise the bar, we are going for 500 cars!!!!
WHEN: SATURDAY, JULY 26, 2008. This year we will be hosting a whole day event starting a 9 A.M. and going up to Midnight!
WHERE: The event will be held in Lanexa VA at the Rockahock Campgrounds. The Parade will start at 2 P.M. but the entire the day will be filled with:
ACTIVITIES:
- Vendors
- Car shows
- Clinics
- Competitions
- Music: There will be several different bands playing Country, Rock and Roll and Top 40!
- Food & Drink: Vendors will be serving picnic or carnival type food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and that sort of thing! Also, genuine Italian food will be available at the Fox Hunter Grill right there on the grounds of the Rockahock Campgrounds! There will also be a BEER TRUCK available for those who wish to enjoy a cold one on a hot July Virginia day! Please drink responsibly!
- and Children Events.
ACCOMMODATIONS: You can camp at the Rockahock Campgrounds or reserve a cabin or even a Yurt! Yurts are available to rent for 42.00 a night. It is a cabin with a bed AC and overhead light. You bring your linens and pillows and use the shower rooms. They also have food and a bar on sight. Their phone number is 1 804 966-8362. RV accommodations are available as well.
Also, the Ramada Inn Williamsburg is holding a block of 50 rooms at the special rate of $49 per night. You must make reservations before July 21, 2008 to get that rate! I would advise making reservations sooner rather than later.
Their phone number is 757 565-1111 and they are located at 6493 Richmond Rd in Williamsburg Virginia. If you have any problems with reservations, please ask to speak to Nick at the Ramada Inn. He is the contact person at the Ramada Inn for this event.
Please keep in mind that the Williamsburg Pottery Factory, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, Busch Gardens and several Outlet Malls are within easy driving distance of Rockahock. Why not make a weekend of it?

I'm in.
I still need to make hotel arrangements and what not. It looks like it would be better for me to head down friday since google says it's 3-4 hours from way up here in Frederick. Fun back roads would take even longer.
For the hotel, I'm leaning towards this econo lodge rather than the official ramada. They are pretty close and the econo lodge has much better reviews.

Hi Everyone! So, i've been procrastinating and haven't booked my hotel yet. I just finished calling quite a few places in Williamsburg. I figured there might be more out there like me so i'll post what i've found. =) There are more hotels out there than what i've posted, i'm trying to stay on the cheaper end of things and this is what i'm finding. If anyone wants to know anything in more detail, PM me.
Econo Lodge Central – 1800 Richmond Road (757)229-2781 $79.95/night
Econo Lodge Pottery – Richmond Road (757)564-3341 $79.95/night (Yes, there are two and this guy sounded kind of shady)
Clarion Inn and Suites – Richmond road (757)645-3636
$84.99/night ** Renovated two months ago. Previously was a Ramada Inn**
Howard Johnson – Richmond Road (757)220-5550
$99.95 (No King bed/non-smoking avail for July 26th)
Hilton Garden Inn (as mentioned above)– Richmond Road (9757)253-9400 *No available rooms on July 25 or 26th!
And last but not least, I couldn't find a correct phone number for the Ramada Inn on Richmond Rd where the special was originally running. If anyone knows what their prices are, please post for us.

Something to do while there
Not sure if I'll be able to make it but it sounds like fun.
While you're in that area (America's Historic Triangle - Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown), you've got to check out my friends' schooner. They offer daily sailing trips from Yorktown's Riverwalk Landing Pier.
