All things Music
So understand
Don't waste your time always
Searching for those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realize you're living in the golden years
Iron Maiden was amazing last night!!! Bruce has such a stage presence. I finally got to be in a Fear of the Dark crowd and do the oooooo ing. And they had a 12 ft. tall eddie (the one on the new greatest hits cover) walk out and point his gun and stuff. I guess the guy was on stilts. Pretty much standard fare as far as a Maiden concert goes (which is awesome) setlist was about the usual but the did play Rime of the Ancient Mariner which surprised me. What a cool song. Towards the end of the song, they had fireworks go off in unison with the crash cymbals. they had big flames shooting up at various times as well, and we all know how metal fire is.
All in all, even though Merriweather has poo poo sound, it was a great concert, but then again, it had to be, it was Maiden.

The Mariner kills the bird of good omen
His shipmates cry against what he's done
but when the fog clears, they justify him
and make themselves a part of the crime......

"THE Sun now rose upon the right:
Out of the sea came he,
Still hid in mist, and on the left
Went down into the sea."
"And the good south wind still blew behind
But no sweet bird did follow,
Nor any day for food or play
Came to the mariners' hollo!"
"And I had done an hellish thing,
And it would work 'em woe:
For all averred, I had killed the bird
That made the breeze to blow.
Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay
That made the breeze to blow!"
"Nor dim nor red, like God's own head,
The glorious Sun uprist:
Then all averred, I had killed the bird
That brought the fog and mist.
'Twas right, said they, such birds to slay,
That bring the fog and mist."

And the part I like, think Bev would like this too....
"Farewell, farewell! but this I tell
To thee, thou Wedding-Guest!
He prayeth well, who loveth well
Both man and bird and beast."
"He prayeth best, who loveth best
All things both great and small;
For the dear God who loveth us
He made and loveth all. "
Watch out for the animals !

Hello everyone,
A different kind of music for some of you. I am a classical musician, so naturally I listen to mostly classical music.
Here is me on the violin playing one of my favorite pieces. Great for driving at night with the sunroof opened. Enjoy!

.....I am excited to know that you are among the ranks of the DCMM! You're Claire De Lune was beautiful...thank you for sharing with us! The thought of listening to that on a cool summer night with a bright full moon and the silhouette of trees and hills rushing by gives me goose bumps...I am also an avid listener of classical music. I don't spend enough time playing music anymore though. I played piano, cello, and saxophone whilest growing up. Piano was my primary instrument and played competitively (but certainly not at your level!) until I went to college. I keep telling myself that I will still learn that Rachmaninoff 1st piano concerto someday...
Hope you will join us for a night time run!
BTW, the piano accompanist was excellent. too. Was that Kuei-I Wu? I share the same surname
And, FWIW, my wife was born and raised in Taiwan Last edited by PlayPlay; Jun 26, 2008 at 03:52 AM.
While I'm not a classical fanatic, I do appreciate and enjoy certain pieces, especially those that make you well up inside and bring on tears.....for no other reason than just the beauty of the piece, you efforts have done just that ! Bravo !
Is anyone going to see Coldplay on August 3rd?? I'm trying to find tix, but uber $$$. Honestly, I'm more interested in Santogold whos opening for Coldplay, but I think the whole evening will be very entertaining.

ha, they didn't even really play the song, just went into the crazy solo, which is cool.
btw, i think pat travers is amazing now that i looked at the track list on the cd you gave me and saw which songs were pat.
Edit: I just wikied Pat Travers. I know who the drummer is now. I assumed that would be the only reason you would mention that. I wouldn't have know unless you mentioned it though.

Nicko was a jazz drummer at one time if my memory is working, I can't recall if I included the song "Gettin Betta" on your disc that features Nicko, the style is world's different than his "patented" style with Maiden.
I kick myself to this day for not seeing PT at Jaxx's, we were given free tickets the night before when we saw MSG. I was so tired from that show there was no way I could do PT on Sunday evening and go to work the next day. Should have called in sick !

Somebody is gonna be excited, and I think I know who.
Pat Travers will be at Jaxx on Friday, December 12th, along with Stephen Pearcy, Britny Fox, Swirl, and Fuzz Box. I must admit, I only know Pat Travers, but I will definitely check out the other bands. Plus, it's only $20. www.jaxxroxx.com
What can I say, I'm hooked on Rock 'n Roll.
