All things Music
You guys know Iron Maiden is gonna be in Columbia right? I plan to get my tickets tonight. They are almost gone, so you better hurry.
Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Meriweather. Be there, or be sad.

Well, I am not sure if I will be in DC at this point, so it will have to be last minute for me.
I will also be missing the DT concert cuz I will be out of town

Yo D-Unit,
Do you have any MSG, UFO, Graham Bonnet, or Bruce Dickinson (solo) on CD ? I can burn off a disc if you would like and bring it along for you this Sunday.
We never seem to get a chance to converse on the runs we should make it a point to do so.
Cheers,
Mike

I have one of the newer MSG CDs, Arachnaphobia, and a couple of random songs i got years ago, but thats it. none of the others, although I have heard some of the Bruce Dickinson solo stuff. Sounds pretty much like Maiden
. But I don't have any, just heard it on internet radio. Gotta love Pandora.
Anyway, yea, that would be great. There always seems to be a lot going on, I don't know where all the time goes. This time it will happen. If you want me to make a CD for you I will, but I'm not sure what you would want. You can throw random bands out there and I'll see what I have. I could do Rush, Rainbow, Iron Butterfly, Judas Priest, Primus, The Beatles, The Who, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Opeth, Kansas, just to name a few. Feel free to name more, I may have them and I may not.
Also, I'm not sure how you feel about jazz fusion/avant garde jazz or whatever they call it, yknow that crazy stuff with the odd time signatures and the weird fills or whatever, i cant explain it, but if you know about it, then you know what i mean. Anyway, if you have any interest, check out Hiromi Uehara. She is a really good pianist/keyboardist, and the rest of her band is awesome as well. It's kinda like Jazz Fusion and Progressive Rock mixed. It's pretty much love it or hate it though. But if you want, I have all of her stuff too. Let me know.
So, yes on the CD, and let me know if you want one.

Another
for Pandora. It's what I usually listen to when I am at work.
Tim (the guy who started pandora) travels around quite a bit. Went to a meetup when he was in DC last year. One of the points he mentioned was Pandora accounts for about 10% of US web traffic on the internet around 12 pm during the work week :D

Forgot to mention http://pandorafm.real-ity.com. It feeds my last.fm profile with what I listen to on Pandora.

Right now I'm planning to go to the one at Nissan, but so far, no prices have been announced, at least, I haven't found them. I'm sure once I see the price I will probably have to forget about going. However, I read that Priest will tour this fall and will play the concept album in its entirety. That should be cool, and maybe cheaper. O, and, you can download the title track on the new Priest album, should be easy to find. Halford still sounds good, albeit not as high, but I was surprised. Anyway, that is all. Figured I should share that.

Sorry lads, I'm the official tripod, camera and film assistant.
Might be tough this time around since she's not a student working on her portfolio. But she knows the process and maybe, just maybe we'll get a pass. They usually give the first few songs then you gotta beat out of there. The biggest we did was KISS, that was awesome !

Priest Update:
Tickets are $71.00 for the first tier (not the pit, the next closest section), next tier is $54.50, third tier is $42.50, and finally, the lawn (lame), is $29.50, or 4 for $22 each.
if you want to be up front, prepare to pay quite a bit. Gold seating in $131 (whatever that is), VIP Gold experience (whatever that is) is $225. Judas Priest Platinum VIP Pack is $405, and the Heaven and Hell Pack is the same price.
there you go, hope you can make it.

Just for Glenn
Oh....the sound quality is terrible !
love the horse ride...reminds me of an episode of "Bones"
Wonder if the motordrive sound was a tape loop ? those were real popular back then before the digital/midi age took off
Here's some guys I liked from the Jr. High days, my girlfriend at the time was a "Pom" and they did a really cool routine to this song
Crap I'm getting old ......sad thing is, this music is timeless, I still like it !

I love Radiohead. But, alas, no I did not see them. The weird thing is this is the 3rd time they've played at the Nissan Pavillion and theyve been rained on all three time LOL.
Not sure
Here's some Priest, love this acoustic version, Rob's vocals are so straight forward, he really does have a voice ! not much more than some EQ and a good mic for this (i.e. no "spice girl" treatment)
Very reminiscent of the very earliest Priest

Speaking of Priest, I forgot to post this yesterday. I got the new CD monday (a day before it was released, pre-ordering is cool). It's really good. It is a two disc concept album called Nostradamus. The story is about, you guessed it, Ponce de Leon...wait, I mean Nostradamus. It's all serious business, no Living After Midnight or Turbo Lover here, which is good. I'm glad to see Priest do something like this. Not that they haven't done serious songs in the past, but I'm a big sucker for concept albums. Even some of the cheesier songs on the CD still have just the right amount of cheese where it isn't a joke. If you are a Priest fan, I think you know what I mean. There is a bit of redundancy in the lyrics, but it doesn't bother me, just something I noticed, and I'm sure it was intentional.
It really is a classic Priest album. It has pretty much every sound up until now. Rob uses all of his different voices, or at least 85% of them, and there is still some wailing. There is even a good old air raid siren in the title track (think Queen of the Reich). All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. I got the special edition, which come in a nice hardcover book, with a foreward by Priest, all the lyrics nicely printed in medieval font, and cool pictures. Also got a free lawn ticket to the show, we'll see if it actually comes. I recommend it, but that's not necessary. If you are a fan, you most likely have plans to get it. Anyway,
, Priest still has it.
