Mach V Shop Update

Hey DCMM,

Sorry I haven't been out to more local MINI events, but we've been pretty busy. We moved to our new shop about four weeks ago, got unpacked and up and running. We hosted our Grand Reopening Open House. And today, I acquired the AWD Dynojet dyno that we used, but didn't own, at our old shop. So that'll be moving into our new shop sometime in the next few weeks.

(Yes, I know no current MINI is AWD, but you have to plan for the future, right? )

I've seen a few of you at the new shop, but would love to see more. I drive the Mach V MINI to work about every other day, so we can discuss that, your car, or anything else.

We offer services including...
  • Regular maintenance -- keep your warranty valid without going to the MINI dealership!
  • Installation of performance parts
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis
  • Dyno testing and (soon) tuning
  • Window tint, clear bra, and "painless" dent removal
  • Alignment services
I promise to come out to some more events as soon as all the equipment is bolted down and we've completely unpacked.

good news!!! nice to be able to procure what you've spent years working with instead of starting over from scratch

We got an alignment rack. It was installed today. The dyno pit is being dug starting tomorrow.

Thanks for the update Dan! Your new shop is very nice and spacious - I'm sure you'll do well in your new location. I'll be stopping by at some point to try out your R56 with your Mach V springs!

I just wish I was closer to you, but oh well.

Quick question: Which borla exaust is quieter inside the car, and how quiet is it? I'm looking for something that is a little bit louder but I don't want any drone. I already have 1 LOUD car. Or do you think I'd be better off just replacing the muffler only?

The Touring system is slightly quieter. It's pretty quiet, especially inside the car. Most people would not find it objectionable, I'd say.

I'm getting mine done tomorrow. Dan told me a normal alignment will be on par with most shops, but custom setups like mine with camber links and plates will be about $125, give or take. More than fair...I was quoted $300 for the same at another local shop (vendor on NAM), which is so outrageous as to defy a proper response besides 'no thanks'.

Sorry, I neglected to respond to this. $240 or less, depending on the film.

would you guys do 2wheel alignments too?
most shops around here tells me some BS when i ask for front alignments only.. ? (someone them can't even change the rear anyways.. ugh) Its quite a drive but you guys are the nearest in thie area that I may feel comfortable enough.. i have ireland plates with H&R coils and I could always go back to your place and get the rear arms installed , aligned when I get some dough . let me know please!

We don't like to do only two wheels -- if you have us align the front of your MINI, and the rear happens to be off, are we supposed to just ignore it? Or do we then tell you we're going to have to charge you more if you want it in spec?

uh... Ignore it.. because rears can't be adjusted anyways? I know for a fact that the rears are off. But just trying to get the fronts in spec and do the rears later... if thats too difficult / hassle to deal with.. Hm
