What about ice skating? There are quite a few rinks (indoor) in the area.

Ice Skating - Bad for thy bumm .....me and those blades just don't work

Roller Skating - Now you're talking

Bowling - How about full size and the MINI is the ball ? Oh yeah, that's just a normal drive to work :impatient

The new year looks promising, not to be a bummer, but I know that I will be lucky to make one event a month. Between flying/traveling for work, flying at the club, private weekends with Leona and Wensley, building airplanes, family events, man ! Its tough to find time !

It's all good !

I just want to let everyone know.... The Aesthetic Creations, Solar Solutions Event that is held every October, now, will be ON the NAM calendar. So what that means is if you buy the NAM calendar, it will be printed on the physical calendar. I think that is pretty cool.

Also, Octane Guy is going to try and attend this event and do a detailing clinic during the event. I am working on this and trying to work out the details with SS, AC, and OG. We are going to try and have a BBQ and perhaps a run each day.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but we shall see.

Ice Skating - I'm up for that. We can go to the rink on top of Ballston Mall. Cheap parking, indoor rink so not so chilly. They have a snack bar and rentals.

Bowling - I suck at bowling but I always have fun trying.

I'm jealous of the West Coast MINIs because they've had a good look at their VDC in the following thread.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=21112

Wouldn't anyone else love to see the New Jersey VDC? Any chance we can arrange a DCMM visit?

Glenn

That's an exellent idea.
Below is what I found from last year event planning discussion thread.

Of course it depends on interest.

But no promises - likely - but no promises

There always be an oppotunity. Again, it's depending on the interest.

Last Sunday in April, just before the Dragon, The "Britain on the Green" classic show In Alexandria along the river at Collingwood Library is good fun. Lots of classic Brits plus they welcome new British stuff in general and MINIs specifically. Last year we had 6 pre registered so we got our own class for peoples choice award and I got a nice medal!

Don't forget the Carlisle Import show, good MINI showing last year and likely bigger this...

I laughed when I saw I got a bullet on the list of events, and laughed more when I say Jay added a (2) in front of it.

Hi - I'm not really a member of your group (I live in Huntington, WV...but I went to law school in Lexington, VA and since there is no WV groups, I keep a bit of an eye on groups for areas close that I know and like) but I happened to notice this thread so here are my 2 cents....

Someone mentioned something about a drive-in and there is a great old drive-in move theater Lexington, VA called Hull's Drive-In. It's really close to the interstate so it's easy to get to...but, it's also close to some great fun roads with lots of curves and pretty scenery. Just thought I'd let everyone know, in case you wanted to do something for a day that way....

And, from someone who has no Mini groups in the area and is thrilled if I even see another Mini driving around town - it's great to see everyone getting together! You look like you have a great group!

Yeah, Go-Kart sounds like fun. A handful of us are interested in doing that. May be we can do dinner + go-kart? What do you all think?
We have the first and the second week of February that's still opened, we need a volunteer who familiar with the place/format to help us organize the event.

Lets make this happen.

Thank you for the information.

Drive-in + dinner + twisties sound like fun indeed.

Lexington, va. Hmm... this might be a good idea as a first stop over on the trip to the dragon.

Please let us know, if you have more info. Thanks again.

How about "British Pantry Run"?. Could you please be the organizer on April 19th after the breakfast @ Sterling?

"MINI Icecream Run" is cool as well.

"Sunday drive to a pub" sounds great. Oyster bar in Annapolis, may be?

I went to law school in Lexington but I don't live there anymore. However, I can tell you that the road out to Goshen Pass was fun drive even before I had my fun Mini (and my boyfriend who has done it in an Audi RS4 assures me it's even more fun in a fun car). There are also some other twisty roads in the area but I'd have to check out a map to remember the names/numbers. There are maybe 5-7 hotels in the area - plenty of places to stay unless there is something going on at VMI or Washington and Lee. And plenty more hotels in Staunton, VA (about 20 minutes away) if something is going on. There are also some great places to eat - one of the best pizza places I've ever been....and, for more of a sit-down dinner, there is the Southern Inn. Plenty of other places to eat too - chain restaurants and local places. There are plenty of local shops and a ghost tour too. The drive-in is just outside of town on Route 11 - it's a great drive-in and has a website too (Hull's Drive-In is the name). Lexington is essentially a tourist town so they have a great tourist center, with a website, that I'm sure would be happy to help in planning a stop for everyone.

And the Natural Bridge, one of the natural wonders of the world, is not far from there either.
