I'm planning to go to CDC autox event this coming Saturday morning to get some pictures of MINIs and other cars in action for my collection.

I heard that Marina w/ her GP and Cosmic Purple (fastest MINI @ MoT autox event) will be there for the autox as well.

If you like to shoot moving subject, would like to have fun practice shooting some action photography and don't mind extreme environment , please feel free to join me. The event will start @ 8.30am, I will be there ~9am. The session shouldn't be longer than 2 hours.

Here is the detail:

Sat, Nov 10th @ 9am (raindate, Sun, Nov 11th)
Capital Driving Club, autocrossing event.
Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick MD.

Gears to bring:
Camera body, Lenses (any focal length, 100mm+ recommended), winter gear, gloves, etc. (it will be very cold outside). some old blanket (to cover the ground, for you to sit, kneel or lay on).

This would be great to have a change to go out shooting the real action, it also a good oppotunity to get together and to exchange knowledge/tips and enjoy shooting at the same time

How do you deal with rain?

 

Oh, I forgot. Please check with CDC website (link is in our database thread) to see if there is any postpone or cancellation due to rain.

Also, bring you rain gear for your camera (if any). If you don't have one, bring a medium size garbage bag and some rubber bands. That will do the job, I can show you the trick.

btw, if they cancell the Saturday event, I will be there on Sunday for their test n tune event.

I will see if I will be able to make it on both day.

On Saturday, the lot will probably be slightly wet (from Friday night rain), I might have a chance to get some interesting shots.

I get off work at 6am and will be going to bed. Then there is the family "I gotta" list so this weekend is shot.
For action pictures I would defently go to the autocross in the rain though. Much more action. The tirs don't stick to the pavement as well so there are more spins, and the wet background makes for some nice shots. I am uploading some pictures to smugmug from a rain event in 05. Will post them tonight.

low temp overnight is 38F, so it won't be freezing, but damn...I'm bringing a big thermos of java for sure

No MINI shots because I drive a MINI at the event and I am either working or driving when other MINIs are out there. I do not have large glass so I go for the blurring effect that comes with slower shutter speeds. Also the D70 does not like shooting much above ISO 800.

It's so cold today, but that didn't keep some of us from going out and enjoy photographing and watching autox.

I'm glad to see MrMellowYellow, Pl4yPl4y this morning.

I haven't got many pictures since my fingers was frozen, I had some hard time pressing the shutter release button.
I wish it was warmer and I could stay longer.
