Off to forage for photos. Particular shots pop into mind. The timing is good, Kona and Zelda, my ever willing assistants, are ready. The October sky clear and the sun is low enough for a soft light.
The car is not washed, but that's another contest.....
Have fun everyone.

Within the past few months, I heard some of us was getting new toys. Please show us what they are capable of.
It's digital world now, no need to worry about the film and processing cost. Draw pictures in your mind, before you release the shutter, and shoot a lot.
Cameras and lenses are only tools that will help you get what you want. Learn, and get use to your gears and use them, don't let them limit your ability.

To submit, please resize to ~5.6"x 8.5" @ 72 dpi. So basically, it will roughly equal or slightly less than 400 x 600 pixels.
Please keep your original files, we will need that if your images make it to 10 finalists for printing and archive purpose.
Below, the image has been resized from original to 392 x 591 pixels or 5.6" x 8.5" @ 72 dpi.

I still don't understand why the very small resolution. These are being viewed on a computer; no modern computer has a resolution less than 800 x 600. Why ask for the photos in such a small pixel count?

Let change the way to call this:
To submit, the image(s) must be resized at the maximum of 6" x 9" @ 72 pixels/inch, and with the lowest jpeg compression (highest jpeg quality).

Note: Don't forget that the topic is "DC Metro & MINI". Pictures should be related to the topic by using your creativity.

After had a chance to meet some of our members at Towson party today, I heard some hint about their secret photo projects for this contest.
All of them are very interesting, this is going to be fun.
Remember: the topic is "DC Metro & MINI".
Make it works for you.

Yup, I ran my MINI at speed through a underground Metro station this a.m. for this ala the 'Italian Job'. Shoulda seen the looks on the folks on the platform.
Great acoustics in the tunnel with the Alta CAI and one ball.

Can't wait to see.
The real "DC Metro" and the MINI.
If I can't submit film it isn't art. Reducing my or say Ansel Adams work to a mere digital representation would be a crime to the senses.
If the smilies didn't make it clear, I'm just funnin you guys.
I'm sorry, but if it's measured in pixels it ain't real photography

Above is not picture in the contest, just a random sample.
I remember Marina's post the other picture of MINIs @ Hains Point a while back. I don't remember on what thread though.
Btw, are you ready to send in your pictures?

I felt the same way about magnetic tape vs. recording direct to hardrive when I worked at the recording studio
There's just got to be a big reel of tape spinnin' to sound right !
I remember the day that I had to carry a slide projector around in order to present projects to my clients. Or brought the projector to a party for a vacation slideshow display.
Or using an ipod vs open reel tape.

Anyhow, Print @ 8" x 10" are also accepted.

Sorry, didn't mean to start a lengthy off topic side trip. Having said that I'll add another! :-) I have and use for snap shots a digital camera and a video projector for groups shows. But I still get the most satisfaction (photographically speaking) from Kodachrome slides, a slide projector, and a top quality screen. "Momma don't take my Kodachrome awaaaay...." <- That's a Paul Simon lyric for you youngin's.

Now: Memory stick, Labtop, Hi-def Plasma.
Kodachrome, best skin tone. I really love the color.
Also, I miss wider dynamic range of film.
It took National Geographic a long while to decide to switch to digital.
Just a thought:
Rock Creek park is very beautiful, especially this time of the year. It's worth the take a trip there.
Also, scout locations in Georgetown, there are quite a few interesting spots.
Night scene in Del Ray, Reston town center, old town Alexandria, South Bethesda, downtown Silver Spring, Georgetown, or at Washington Cathedral, are good as well.
Happy motoring and photographing.
