(Copied from the 'Was it you?' thread)

http://www.thedairygodmother.com

It's located in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, VA. Not too far from Arlington or Old Town Alexandria.

They do homemade Wisconsin style frozen custard (vanilla, chocolate, and a flavor of the day), homemade sorbet, baked treats and goodies, and even doggy treats!

Liz, the owner, is unbelievable in the kitchen! Everything I've ever had there, and I really mean everything, was fantastic! A couple times when living in Alexandria, I would go there for custard, then some sorbet for dessert!

And in the fall/winter months, they do a 'Brat night' once a month where she makes up some bratwurst and homemade German potato salad, and (the few times I've been there anyway) there's a local accordian player belting out some Polkas. It's an entertaining weekday night!

Oh, and she also 'imports' soda from a Wisconsin brewery by the name of Sprecher's. Awesome root beer and real ginger ale!!!!

What will be the best time to go there during weekday? for good parking, etc.

Thanks.

I assume you mean after work hours? They close at 9:00 now that summer's over, and they're always closed on Tuesday. I'd say anytime after 7:00. There's a small parking lot across the street that generally has a few spaces open, and there's a much larger lot just behind that one. Unless a couple dozen people show up, I doubt there would be much of a problem.

Unfortunately, most of the parking is parallel parking on the street. Parking spaces on weekend evenings can be hard to find.

If it's the parking lot I'm thinking of, it still gets tight, even during the week. As cool as it is seeing a bunch of MINIs parked together, unfortunately, there's simply not the room for it in Del Ray.

Having said that though, it still would be cool even if every other car was a MINI!

We could actually all park in the Gas Station lot which is right next door and I believe is closed in the evenings.

I dunno if I can make 10/4 at 6pm...I usually don't get out of work until then. 8pm-9pm is more feasible for me.

They are closed at 9pm, aren't they?

Not that y'all should plan around me, especially considering that I haven't even joined yet , but I can't make it on the 5th. We're leaving that day for Chicago where my wife, the MINI owner, is running a marathon.

Plus, Wednesday is actually the 3rd. Maxi, were you suggesting Wed 10/3 or Thurs 10/4? pl4ypl4y, which of those days are you going to Philly?

Maxi, you may want to change the title of this with the date and time so than there can be more interest.

I live about 2 miles from there! In fact, I have been known to walk to Dairy Godmother just for the exercise. I'll try and stop by...

I, too, have been known to walk there. Of course, I live about 4 blocks away.

I won't be walking to this one, though.

This thread was intended to be an ongoing thing...not just one date. Are we going to update the thread title every time someone makes a run to Dairy Godmother? That's fine with me...just thought it might be difficult to keep up with. Of course, with Maxi doing the updates, he'll prol be very diligent since he's on the forums all the time

Oh, if that is the case, I will leave the date/time out after this one.

Nah its cool....leave it up for now

October 3rd 7pm is good for me...I'll try my best to make it. Custard flavor of the day for 10/3 is Blackberry.

If I have time this evening, I may swing by as well....Maple Walnut, today.
