No NAM Since Saturday Night!!!

I have been unable to connect to NAM via Comcast Internet since Sat Night. If anyone else is having problems, please call Comcast and complain! 1-800-266-2278

*** Actually, this may be a NAM issue. I just hope its resolved soon. Read the posts in the Site Feedback section. Albeit, that still wouldn't make Comcast a good company!

Comcast everywhere sucks!

But what do you expect? The notion that bidding on a local monopoly would unleash the competitive forces for lower prices and improved service is a crack smoking phantasy!

NAM had server issues over the weekend. It affected connectivity for everyone.

Though Comcast still sucks.

Well.... If NAM's host made any routing or service changes (DNS, FIREWALL, CLUSTERING, LOAD BALANCING, etc) that would cause Comcast's connectivity problems, then I hope they realize it and fix them because waiting for Comcast to figure it out is PAINFUL!

This happened before. It's not NAM per se, but the host, The Planet Internet. Apparently some router gets a bug up it's ethernet port and leaves certain IP ranges hanging in the wind. There's another developing thread with a lot of people on Comcast having the same problem (as am I since the weekend).

Amen. I just got a month for free by going into the Alexandria office and complaining. I also have a new cable box and a new cable modem.

By the way, isn't it interesting that the Comcast personnel have to sit behind bullet-proof glass? OK, I guess their main function is collecting bill payments and they are in a 'not so nice' neighborhood, but still....

DSL and satellite don't work well in our neighborhood. I've been comcast's b*&%h for nine years. I keep getting solicitations for the "triple play" package. It's bad enough that they screw up my TV and internet, I'd have to be brain dead to let them handle my voice line as well.

Comcast just sucks @$$ in general. i'm having signal issues at my house, and they have already replaced the drop coming into the house, and i'm still having a problem. so i have to call them again.

If your setup requires a cable splitter, and it's a cheap-o one or one that Comcast gave you, dump it and go spend the $20 f'in dollars on a Monster Cable splitter. My cable internet was always dropping out, but on recommendation from a co-worker, I got the Monster Cable one. Now it works great.

So great in fact, that while I was counting the days until FIOS ran up to the house. It's finally ran, but now that everything works, I'm too scared to switch over!

a few of my coworkers have FIOS, and they say that the signal is very strong. and the picture quality is incredible. which is understandable since it's a fiber line all the way to the house.

and i will look into the monster splitters. thanks paul!

FiOS in offered now in my neighborhood (it was one of the early adopters). FOr seemingly countless years, I was stuck with a miserable (though fairly stable) 26.4k dialup connection. Only in the last couple years have I been able to get cable, now FiOS. I could not get broadband at all for the longest time even after the rest of the world upgraded. Now I am swimming in potential bandwidth. :impatient

Well... Its working again!

As it turns out it was NAM's hosting company, theplanet.com's fault, not Comcast.

In my opinion, Comcast still "inhales aggressively"! Their customer service, call centers and procedures actually aggravate customers and inflame issues. IMHO, the have become the "phone company" that Lily Tomlin built a comedy career mocking. Someday, maybe a culture of creating competition will return to this country instead of the corporate culture of monopolistic giants in the communications industry that has arisen in this country.

Don't know a phone number, but there is this webpage. Try qualifying both from phone number and address.

Good luck? Even if you are able to get a "person" on the phone and they give you a date, Verizon seems to treat those dates as being within 1 to 2 years. Timelines, completion dates and deadlines mean absolutely nothing to Verizon. I think you will find that once you sign up with Verizon you will find the same level of customer service that you now have with Comcast----NONE! Maybe I should have put this in the Rants thread.

i'm aware of that. i know that with the price of service, i pay for the "service" not the "customer service". if we even got into that, then we would have to start a whole new thread. lol

i've dealt with all these big companies. when it comes to customer service, they are all horrible.
