Bought the vehicle new and received it in October of 2012. This problem has been around since we've gotten the vehicle, the dealership, Bergstrom says "Well that's not normal, but we can't find the source and it doesn't seem to be affecting anything" and MINI USA said "The dealer says there isn't a problem, so it must be fine."

The issue is sporadic, but when you hit a bump and start braking, the brakes shudder and the tension in the brake pedal goes away. The car still stops just fine, but it feels like it isn't going to. The sound is similar to when you flick a door stopper, only it's a car instead of a 3" door stopper.

Running out of options to figure out what is wrong with this, and it just feels incredibly unsafe.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

Edit: There's also a rattling/creaking in the dashboard when braking, but they said to fix it would require to take the entire dash apart, so they won't do it.

 

sounds like the ABS is kicking in ...
still on the factory run flat tires?
