Big Brake Kit?

Haven't seen much talk about a big brake kit or aftermarket brake parts for the Countryman. Stumbled on this while doing some googling:

And sadly I haven't seen or heard much from owners looking to make the move to performance braking..

Actually I have a front and rear kit in production at this time for a custom build- not one of the listed kits. This one will be including a 13" rear rotor to accompany the 14" six pot front set up we've come up with.

Maybe in time the Countryman will hit a stride for the afermarket, so far that looks to be a ways out yet.

AP Racing has a countryman kit. They are the ones that make the Duell AG and Prodrive kits.

I think once bolt on power adders become more affordable and readily available you will start to see increased sales. I wouldnt consider upgrading my brakes till I went over the 240hp threshold. Maybe sooner since the Countryman brakes seem inefficient out of the box.

Sorry to hear about the slow sales, Todd. I think this is a bit of a chicken-or-egg problem.

First, I agree that (foolishly or not) people are not likely to upgrade their brakes until they get a decent amount of power under the hood.

Second, there are so few aftermarket parts available for power increases that it becomes difficult for us to mod our cars. Take my car for example:

There are no true performance exhausts for the FWD Countryman apart from the the VIP 2.5" system so I had to have a shop custom make one for my car. There are currently no intercoolers that fit the Countryman, so I've had to use the Forge one for regular Coopers until a better solution comes along. I probably wouldn't have a downpipe if the one from the other Cooper models wasn't a direct fit.

The question is: Are there no parts because their is no demand or is there no demand because there are no parts? It's true that, even if the parts were available, people might not buy. But it's a guarantee that people won't buy if the parts aren't there.

Apple Computer has famously said that while Microsoft was using customer surveys and focus groups to figure out what products consumers wanted, Apple simply designed products that the customers had never thought of but couldn't live without.

I hope business picks up for you and the other companies, both for your sakes and ours. But the modding Countryman owners are out there, I swear!

I do not feel that the major market for the Countryman is to the serious performance driver. MINI/BMW has softened it up to appeal to the broadest customer base and they have succeeded. Which means it is the soccer mom and not the HPDE driver that is buying it. The market for performance items will be soft, but the market for 'style' and interior items will be better.

Just my $0.02

i have no intention of tracking my 03/2012 build cms all4, but i do drive aggressively on the street

after the initial breakin, i did 10 x 0 mph - 100 mph - 0 mph to "test the brakes", i went out, did a u-turn and came back, the 10th stop was within a couple feet of the first stop

i found no fade, no change in pedal feel and amazing braking performance

i have the sport suspension and 18" wheels with summer tires

the OEM pads are trw brand and they do not make brake dust

i see no need to upgrade the brakes other than a fashion statement
