16" snow tires/rim fit?

I have on order a CM-S with the sport pkg with 18 run flats. I have set of 205/55/16 Nokian WRs left over from my WRX. Does someone know if 16" steel rims fit the CM-S? I dont care if it's got a huge gap.

Sewell told me the 16" rims will fit with stock CM brakes

i bought a set of oem mini countryman 16" alloys from ecutuning.com

these wheels are used in europe (and maybe elsewhere) but not in the usa

i unboxed 1 wheel and mounted it on the front and then the rear to check clearance on the brakes and suspension ... no problems

my local friendly tire shop fitted up a set of 215/65R16 tires (27" diameter) for a test fit ... this is about 1" larger diameter than my stock 225/45R18 tires

we found no clearance problems, even with 6 180+ pound people in the car, 1 in each seat + 2 sitting on the boot ledge, even at full steering lock

i plan on using michelin x-ice-x3i winter tires on these rims, sized 215/65R16 and keep my 225/45R18s for summer

when the 225/45s wear out, i plan on replacing with michelin pilot super sports in size 225/50R18

swapped my summer wheels/tires for winter wheels/tires today

off came the Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/45-18 RFs and mini Turbofan 18" white wheels

on went the
mini OEM R123 Alloy 5 Hole Circular Spoke Wheel 16" (5x120) Silver
and
205/70-16 Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 tires non-RFs

the pirellis are 25.9" OD and the dunlops are 27.3" OD
the dunlops fill the wheel well nicely and no rubbing with the sport suspension

even though they are winter tires, they are much quieter than the pirelli rfs

the ride is "softer" too

wish the wheels were white instead of silver, but i am too cheap to repaint the new wheels

Won't that throw your speedo off significantly?

my speedo reads 2 mph fast with the stock tires, confirmed with my aviation GPS with .1 MPH accuracy

will be doing a GPS check with the winters later today or tomorrow, i will post the results

just got back from a speedo vs GPS speed check run

with the stock tires, 225/45-18, speedo was 1.9 mph higher than GPS speed

with the winter tires, 205/70-16, speedo is .6 mph lower than GPS speed

i can live with that

on a side note, this all4 is a hoot to drive on dry pavement with the narrower less sticky winter tires

i can initiate a slide mid corner with the throttle with much more control than with the summer tires

hmmm ... maybe my next set of summer tires will be all-seasons with less traction than the summers .... acck ... did i just say that?!

bmwr606, Is there any reason why you went with the taller 205/70-16 vs the tirerack recommend 205/60-16? and why go with the SJ6s vs something like the x-ice3 or the like?

for a little more ground clearance, but primarily, i wanted maximum tire sidewall as defence from potholes ... in cook county illinois (chicago), we don't have "winter", we have "pothole" season

i wanted michelin x-ice3 in 205/65-16, but they are not available yet per Alex @ tirerack

the sj6s were the only available 205/70-16 winter tire and they were only $91 ea minus a $40 rebate on a set of 4

i went to my friendly independant tire store, and they test fit a used 205/65-16 tire ... we found a lot of clearance, so we tried a 205/70-16 and still had clearance ... so i went with the dunlops

also, my speedo is now reading .6 mph lower than my gps speed, instead of 1.9 mph higher than my gps speed with the oem size tire

ah thanks for the info, didn't know if you had some secret info or something haha. How do you like the SJ6s? would you recommend them over anything else you've tried?

these are my first ever "winter" tires and my first winter with my cms all4

no snow or ice or wet experienced yet, but the ride is softer and quieter than the oem pirelli p7 225/45-18 summer rf tires

i hate to say it, but i am looking forward to some snow (i hate winter)

the grip in the cold/dry is much more than i expected from a winter tire, but not as much as my summer tires, when the sj6s let go, it is very predictable and they slide nicely

the sj6s are very stable under heavy braking

previously i have been using several brands of on/off road AllTerrain tires on my 1997 gmc sonoma 4x4 v6 5-speed manual p/u truck that has been my daily driver since 12/1996 (and has 288,000 miles on it now) and on several occasions i have been the only vehicle besides the snowplows moving ... i work in wisconsin at kenosha airport and the hanger area is the last to be plowed, sometimes days after snowfall, the runways are priority

my p/u truck running 235/75-15 tires (29" OD) has about 4 inches more ground clearance that the cms all4 running the 205/70-16 sj6s (27.3" OD) and i expect the ground clearance to be the limiting factor on the cms all4 come the snow

they are mini oem euro wheels, imported from europe by ECS Tuning

R123 Alloy 5 Hole Circular Spoke Wheel 16" (5x120) Silver ES#2159816
16 X 6.5 ET:46, no centering adapter ring necessary, and they use my oem wheel bolts

i bought Dunlop GrandTrek SJ6 206/70-16 winter tires from Alex @ Tirerack, 27.3" OD, no rubbing, even at full steering lock

Those wheels look great, I would describe those as clover leaf 5 pattern design which mimics the wheel design of the Newer R56 Hardtop Cooper S wheels in 16" 4 lug pattern.
