225/55R18s? really 55 series fit? no rubbing? this is great news!

Sorry that was a typo they are 225/50R18's but there would likely be enough room for 55's though the difference in ride between my RF's and these is amazing and makes the car MUCH more fun to drive.

Khumo Xcsta4 225/50R18's

Night and day better than stock.

There's some pictures in my gallery. They look better too. Gives the car a more masculine and solid look. I have some road rash on my rims, and after swapping out I realized that I would have little to none of that rash if I had swapped earlier. The extra bit of bulge lets you feel the curbs instead of just hearing them hit your rims!

Discount tire did mine and price matched tire rack. No problems except they only patch certain RFTs and Pirelli is a do not fix brand

Discount Tire and Discount Tire Direct always get my business as well. You just have to work them a bit to get the right dealio.

ok, i knew the 225/50R18 fit

the reason i got excited was the yokahama geolander A/T-S is available in 225/55R18 and it is an excellent snow/offroad tire

i may have my friendly neighborhood independant tire shop test fit a 225/55R18

i am also thinking of adding the 2" lift kit from detroit tuned and 225/55R18 would look good with the lift

minifini now has a rear spare tire carrier for all minis, including the countryman!

My dad had runflats on his ALL4 S and they wore out very quickly (about 25k) He didn't know to rotate them on a regular basis, but all four were worn not just the front. He replaced them with continetal DWS (He lives in NH and needed the all season) and loves them. The noise level has dropped drastically in his car. It was almost annoying and made the car not fun to drive with how loud it was. He has a can of sealant and a compressor in the boot and loves it. He has 17"" wheels, and had to go to a different size but I don't remember the size it went to. I can give him a call tomorrow and get it if it makes a difference. Either way, he is very happy getting away from the run flats, saved some money and it got a lot quieter.

Back in the late 90's I took my Honda prelude in to Sam's Club for 2 new tires. They told me that they couldn't mount the tires that I had purchased on the car because the original tires called for an "H" speed rating and the new tires were not rated that high. However, if I brought the wheel in off of the car they could do it. So I went home, pulled off one wheel, brought it in, they mounted the new tire and then I did the same with the other. Would have been a total pain with 4 tires but it solved my problem.

Quieter

Just mounted a set of NON RFT Michelin Primacy P225/45R-18 MXM4 on my CM All 4 - Tire Rack - $151.00 per tire, $70 Michelin Rebate Certificate -- Fairfield (Connecticut) Mini Mount and Balance all four for $193

Ride definitely smoother, No more jarring impacts when I hit uneven pavement or speed bumps

The absolute most beneficial improvement is MUCH QUIETER cabin - Especially at speeds over 50 MPH -- It is amazing to now hear the engine and turbo more clearly, conversations inside cabin and audio system are much more enjoyable -- You can hear a bit more "wind" noise at higher speeds, however this is a welcome trade off!!

Got my portable 12V compressor and Green Slime, just in case!

Overall, I would Highly Recommend these tires, Two thumbs up to Logan Woodworth The Tire Rack logan@tirerackwholesale.com

My S -All4 came equipped with the factory Sport SUSPENSION & 17" AS RF's.
I drove on these for aprox3K.
Around 500mi I raised the tire pressure from 34 to 38.5 & noticed the difference.
It seems to drive softer & be slightly more responsive.

@ aprox 3K I switched to a lighter 19"(NM-E RSe-14) with General AS03 UHPAS (non RF) and am using a larger 225/(45)-19 .

I have not yet lowered the car, but plan to soon.

The General AS03 rated very well on Tirerack, amazingly well actually. Especially for the price. A few of the reviews mentioned noise levels & I have to confirm, these are loud. After 200mi they have seemed to quiet down slightly but they are def a loud tire. (maybe similar to Fuzion Zri). The tire exceeds in every category & is priced very well, its made by Continental, The only downside is the noise. I can live w/ that. After 'cat-back' I will hardly notice

I again bumped the tire pressure to 38F, 38.5R & my overall impression is as follows(compared to the ride quality of the Pirelli 205/55-17 AS RF).
- Faster turn in
- better breaking
- more corning grip
- slightly more noise
- slightly harsher ride
- more vibration/road feel is transmitted through the vehicle & steering wheel
- better road/driver feedback
- no rubbing
- better looking tire
- fills wheelwell .3" more than recommend 'scale up' size
- .3 increase in diameter corrects speedo by ~2mph (more accurate)
- rear end seems to hop about the same as the RF's did
(I have noticed less hopping after the shocks 'warm-up' & also with a weighted car)
- I think in general its overly sprung/shocked for an 'empty' car.. dare I say It needs more weight to ride better?
- I now have no safety/convenience of a RF nor spare.
- I carry a tire plug kit & slime/compressor kit
- I have a custom adapter & compact folding spare from a MB & will equip the storage space with this soon.
- I reduced aprox 13# per corner of unsprung wt. (mostly from the lighter Neuseped wheels)

After the 1st 2 days I was thinking I made a mistake going to 19's. It seems I have either gotten used to it or the tires have softened up a tad. I do not regret this decision to 19's. For the money, the General's can not be beat(especially at wholesale). A faster wearing summer tire for 30% more would be quieter.
- An 18 w/ 225(50) would be a recommended upgrade from me for anyone wanting more comfort & a slightly taller wheel diameter to actually fill the wheel opening.
