Long time no post

Just wanted to stop in and say hello to any lurkers out there.

After purchasing my Mini in 2008 I was an enthusiastic poster to this board , and enjoyed meeting fellow owners from the area. Unfortunately all is not well with my Mini.... Less than 4000 miles out of warranty, the turbo blew.

Along with the timing chain messing up earlier in the year, (still under warranty thank God). I've come to the decision Mini is no longer worth the aggravation or expense. the dealership estimated close to 4 grand for the replacement, but I'm having it done locally for much less. then I'm off to trade it in on something else.

I'll miss driving it on these country roads..... But not miss the expense (G).

Best of luck with your Alls Mini's
I'll still wave if I see you.......

Drat.

A raw deal for sure. Turbo cars are great creatures and if you bought new, I'm sure you took good care of it. But the mass of people out there don't realize that after running in turbo mode for extended driving times requires a cool down idle period before shutoff. On my turbo'd cars, I would always let the car idle down for at least a couple minutes before turning the key off. Now this was after driving on interstate or under hard driving. The oil was allowed to cool while idling and not boil b/c it was so hot. Just sayin....

Hope you can find your roots again with another Mini. I bought my '05 S in February 2012 with 77K on her clock. So far, so good. I really like this little car. I almost bought another Corvette but after driving this Mini, well, I just fell in love with it.
