Autocross

I've mentioned it a few times on here and at lunch but here is the official offer....

I'm going to autocross this Sunday in the Charleston area with my boyfriend (I'm not driving my Mini).

If anyone is interested is going (and driving or just watching like me), let me know. If you're in the Huntington/Charleston area, we'd be happy to meet you some where and you can follow us.

Thanks for the invite. I won't be able to make it (heading off for a week of golf and poker -wish me luck). But I will be watcing at the TT East event up here. Have fun and tell your guy-- "Racing is easy. You go fast or you go home."

I think it's most always the third Sunday of the month. We don't go to all of them - my boyfriend works every other weekend - but I can keep everyone posted of when we do go. There is a website too that I could post on here and it has the schedule.

I may decide to go if the weather is nice. I've been going to a couple of these per year for several years. I've never participated, but I like to watch. It's a great way to get outside and have a nice drive. I usually take a lawn chair and a small cooler. One day I may even ask if I can help with resetting the cones just to get more involved. I am one of those SCCA members who doesn't participate. I don't know why though. ?????

I like to watch too! I don't drive. :-) Unfortunately, I think it's going to rain all day tomorrow but, if you want to brave it (we are), let me know and we'll be happy to meet you somewhere and you can follow us.

I know the way. I've been there several times, just hanging around the perimeter. I've even talked to one of the club members about driving. He was really enthusiastic and got me fired up for a short while. I'm just afraid that I might hurt my car...that would be a bad day for me.

I'm not expert on the driving because I just watch....but my boyfriend is extremely protective of his cars. EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE. Pretty much, if it's between the car getting scratched and me getting my head lopped off, I'm losing my head....assuming my loss of head wouldn't get any blood on the interior. I was shocked when he told me that he was going to start doing autocross....but he's pretty sure that it would take an effort to really hurt the car. He's gotten a few smudges from the cones on the wheels, which can be hard to get off, but nothing too noticeable.

We had a great time and my boyfriend's car didn't get injured! Thanks for asking! We were expecting pouring rain all day but it didn't rain at all - a little cool at times but, overall, a really great day!
