I hate to drive all the way to FL for a tuning fix on my 2011 Countryman. Do you know if Precision Motorsport reverse engineered the addresses for fuel and ignition timing maps on the new R60 ECU to provide you the tune, or did they use a piggyback (something similar to the JB+) to add the 28rwhp? Seems strange that we still don't have something like the Alta AccessPort or any piggyback sensor fooling plugin for the R60 yet.

Nice Curves

I am not familiar with Precision Motorsport - are they affiliated with one of the typical tuners (RMW/Alta/Cobb ...?)

Nice boost with all stock components?

p.s do you think anyone is going to try and monkey with the rear ALL 4 bias to get some more more distributed to the rear in normal/aggressive driving?

That is significant upgrade with just a tune to a stock motor!

a little newbie help here...

Is your Countryman all stock?

Details if possible of the "tune"

Our ALL4 is just a couple of weeks away, and I'm trying to get all the new lingo down. Sounds like cheap horsepower, must know more.

thanks

PAW have no afiliation with Cobb/RWM/etc.

Yes, it a complete stock car it just got a DME calibration & dynoed. Calibration will work for all manual or steptronic AWD drivetrain. As longer it's powered by a N18B16. Also, PAW it's in the works to have 2 calibration mode. Normal mode will have a improved stock map & sport mode will give you the more spirited fun map. We can call it PAW Sport mode =) On the older N14B16 turbo engine they have been able to accomplish 261rwhp - 240ftlb on street car with full emission controls during March!

How much for existing DME calibration or the planned two calibration mode, if we overnight our ECU to you?

I will definitely vouch for them, my 2002 MCS had alot of work done on it. The owner of PAW did all the work for me, and I never had a single problem. He stands by his work, so I will be going to the shop to have my Countryman worked on. Hopefully with the other plans I have, I can be pushing some serious hp jejejejeje

I wonder what the max power output on this engine is, with the stock turbo?

I've read a bit and found it to be around 240 WHP, for the R56. i'd imagine similar engine, so similar output. But any proven, max, power gains with the CM All4 S?

Or even a bigger turbo? Twinscroll too, not those single scroll turbos

Hi AWD_Rally! Getting the power it's not the issue. It's the supporting hardware that will need to be upgraded to keep engine happy & last a long life!

My suggested next upgrade will be same hybrid turbo used on the 1st gen R56 N14 turbo engines that made 261whp & no response loss at all. Or the inexpensive JCW turbo. IMHO, the N18 it's indeed a much improvement from the N14 for everyday drive & MUCH MORE flatter torque band with less relative load (aka. Boost)

Most people publish SAE corrected numbers in this country. Using something other than SAE to make the numbers look bigger is a pretty common practice, this explains the higher than stock HP reading. You mostly see people use STD to make the numbers look bigger, but sometimes you see some of these foreign correction methods used as well. It always makes me suspicious when I see someone doing this. FYI

Well, correction factor will show some slight difference in only peak numbers baseline stock & baseline tuned. The power difference reading between the runs, will remain same! Rather than just dyno peak power w/o a baseline same day =) That's the reason I state power gains, rather peak power. Also, note most of the dyno seen here are using STD correction factor.

Here's Dyno in SAE rating as well. You will same power gains even in SAE.

I was not disputing your hp gain of ~28hp; I was explaining the large stock HP reading in regards to the STD dyno run (someone commented on the high stock number). In the US, SAE is the industrial standard. A lot of people who are not gear heads will over look this and just concentrate on the max hp rating and I believe it can be misleading with the STD numbers. That’s all I was explaining. We have a lot of people from overseas on the forum so I would expect STD numbers out of them but not a US based company.

I have seen All4s dyno around 140whp. I take it the dyno you posted is from a FWD model.

I'm assuming this voids the warranty since the ECU must be opened, correct? Not that I'm opposed to that but I'd like to keep my warranty as long as possible. Perhaps I need to source a second ECU.

Well, if that were the case. An example, MB USA would have voided ALL the world of tuned MB AMG 63 DME including the tuned SLS63 warranty =) But, I've yet to see that . The only way a tune will void the warranty, if the calibration it's the cause of engine failure, specially on those 1st gen Mini R56 with N14B16 turbo engine failures with overly aggressive tune that DME will Datarecord this info & no end user flashing tool can erase recorded info =).

Ah, good to know then! Always fun learning about how different cars engines are managed. Might have to send an ECU your way soon. Any chance you'd be willing to fly out to Hawaii for a dyno tune!?
