It's less expensive to send the DME =) Flying a calibrator will cost too much... unless there's need to do custom calibration for a Mini S with highly assorted mods Originally Posted by inh

My suggested next upgrade will be same hybrid turbo used on the 1st gen R56 N14 turbo engines that made 261whp & no response loss at all. Or the inexpensive JCW turbo. IMHO, the N18 it's indeed a much improvement from the N14 for everyday drive & MUCH MORE flatter torque band with less relative load (aka. Boost)
I understand all that, I come from a turbo background as well.Originally Posted by m54b25
Hi AWD_Rally! Getting the power it's not the issue. It's the supporting hardware that will need to be upgraded to keep engine happy & last a long life!My suggested next upgrade will be same hybrid turbo used on the 1st gen R56 N14 turbo engines that made 261whp & no response loss at all. But RELIABLE power is what I was getting at. I mean, if I can get close to 300 WHP (260 WHP is quite acceptable :D), then I'll do it, even if it takes some new internals, head work, etc. What I don't want, is an engine that needs to be rebuilt ever 10k.
I want a reliable engine, that can be ran as a DD and functional as such all the time. I'll have my fun, fast car (M3
); I just want to get back into an AWD with some nice power behind it and enjoy those dirt or snowy roads again! Before the ///M I had an 09 STI (sitting at 3140 lbs).... 300 WHP/ 340 WTQ :D That was a fun AWD car!6th Gear
