The wife and I attended a 'soft' grand opening tonight at Markel - complete with Mexican food and a mariachi band! We're close to buying ours (still have to find the 'perfect' one), but I won a free weekend with a MINI through a raffle they had.
Their inventory is coming in and they had quite a few 06 and 07's. Also saw my first original Mini and a GP.

I drove a MINI for the first time yesterday at Markel ... it was an '07 S.

So what do the 'purists' think about the bigger body/turbocharged engine?

Being an old Buick Grand National owner... I was impressed with the absence of any noticeable turbo 'lag'. But I haven't driven the supercharged cars... how do they compare?

Needless to say, I thought it was a blast to drive... and expect to get one of these cars eventually. Not sure if it will be a new one or an 'old' one though.

(and I saw you guys upstairs for the 'soft' grand opening... while my wife and I were down below Saturday night checking out the cars on the lot)

 

I forgot I had pictures of the MINI stuck in the snow out by Gretna. Sad to see this but we were all talking about it at the dealer so I figured I would post it here.
Lucky for this person there is a dealer in Omaha now.

Thanks for the note Mark. I was not told my name would be posted on the interweb. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Also, looks like I will be in Omaha on the 30th for 25,000 mile service and some other things like

• Switch on the daytime running lights.
• Turn on the window down feature from the key.
• Inspect a rattle coming from the pano roof when vented.

That last one is no big deal just want it checked out to see if there is something that can be done about it. Oh yea,

• Take an R56 for a test drive.

IT would be cool if we as in all the Omaha MINIs could get together for like a lunch or dinner in Omaha when you come to visit "the Big City". I mean I dont know how long you were planning to stay in Omaha but it's an option
