Ho Chunk Loess Motoring Tour
Thanks for the warning. I may be going under that in the morning. Tomorrow will be a long day as I did not get to leave this afternoon after work. So I will be doing one of my famous EARLY morning DRIVES to Omaha. Wish me luck!
Kaddidle that's great! Glad to have you with us!
Nabeshin we'll be there at 10:30ish.
Tancred is right. Omaha is a nightmare to drive in right now, as I'm sure many of the nations cities this time of year, but yeah, it's very bad around Omaha, so beware, and stay in your lane. Highways are in better shape, but watch them too.
We'll see you all saturday morning.

Ha ha, beat ya to it! I washed Vera Deux late this afternoon. I'd almost forgotten that she's Chili Red -- she looked more Dark Silver with all that road grime. At least that was the color I kept telling myself she was.
Hey WildThang,
Do you know if you were scheduling in a lunch break on the ride? Or we just eating munchies and what we bring with us or eat before leaving? Since leaving at 11 wasn't sure if we would stop that quickly after we leave.

No planned lunch stop. But we have 3 stops in NE before we cross over into Iowa. We plan to snack along the route and at stops.
Bring snacks!
Edit: We're bringing a cooler with our snacks and drinks.

Hope you guys had fun :( I'm in Lincoln. The crack was extending with the car just sitting in the garage so I had to take care of it asap. It was at eye level, starting from the driver's edge running in. It started as 3 inches, then 6 and on the way to Omaha added another 2 inches.
THis wasn't because of a rock, the windshield cracked by itself. Covered by Mini USA even though we are outside our warranty.
Just my luck for this sort of thing to happen NOW.

Gotta say, today's run was GREAT fun! It was great meeting everyone for the first time, and the roads through the loess hills were super to drive together! And don't forget we did get to drive in the wake of one of the craziest pickup truck drivers ever!
Super trip idea WildThang, I can't wait for the next one!
Motor on, CORN!

I agree! Pulled into the garage just before 10:30 PM (BAD fog the last 30 min.). Thanks again for letting me join the group, and thanks WildThang for the trip idea and coordinating the day's activities.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the day! Despite the windy and cloudy day.
We had a blast! Made some notes for our next adventure that we hope will make it less prone to navigational error, or turning around with 10 other MINIs in the middle of an intersection in a very small town, or because the pavement ran out....
It was great to put forums names to real names and MINIs too!
We put a few shots we took of the day in our Gallery. Just look up right where you read this, you'll see a link to the Gallery.
Post thought: Props to the Iowa Local Yokel that kept his county safe on a saturday afternoon from eleven rampaging MINIs! He deserves an extra donut!

That was a very good time. The reactions that we caused were humorous.
My gallery has a few photos that I took. Sort them by filename to get a chronological listing.
nabeshin, I thought you were just hitting the bathroom on the way out. It wasn't our intent to be rude and leave you there.
Thank you WildThang for getting this together and thanks to all who participated. And to those that could not make it, I hope things work out better for the next event.
Motor on!

That was great. Didn't seem like 670 miles in 2 days, MINIs make the miles melt away. Even the state patrol couldn't dampen the fun. If I can find the cord for the camera we'll have some more pics up.
If I have any of my shots made into prints, I'll have to get them scanned and uploaded. I really wish I had my own dark room, used to use the University's facilities. Tomorrow I should hit up Rockbrook Camera.
Are you clicking the gallery link in JMike's post? Under his post count on the right. It should take you to https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...0&ppuser=34308
