M7 Strut Bar

I know this is out there, but here it goes. Has anyone ever put this on an MC (non-S)? I so what did you have to do to it (or the car) to make it fit?

Thanks in advance
Addison

I've mounted them on two MC's in the past and did not have any contact with the covers as I recall. The last one i did was at the Dragon last year and there were no issues. As with some bars there may be a bit of a lift in the rear of the hood but that will vary according to the thickness of the insulation. There are several fixes for that should it be a problem.

I had it mounted on my MC once. It cleared the battery cover, but was lifting the hood too much for my taste. Didn't want to find what the long term effect would be on the hinges, etc. so now I don't have it anymore.

The " bulge " that many have experienced has been around since 02 . It was just not talked about in polite company I have had a " bulge" issue since nov of 02 but no one noticed. This was due to my BMP Pro/ Mini brace which I used for years. I also had a bit of a " bulge " when i used a Forge Motorsports brace as another test. The " bulge " has been with us for a long time with a variety of braces and a number of ways to minimize it have been developed. In my personal case I did not see any difference in my " bulge " as it was already up a bit from my former braces. As to how noticeable this is to others that remains to be seen as a row of 5 foot garish HIN trophy's in my garage( wife won't let them in the house ) attest to the judges never noticing anything amiss As for a warranty problems I guess if your hood blew off they might have a case but except for that it is a non issue. It really comes down to if you have a need to perform better then the POSSIBILITY of a " bulge " should not keep you from making the correct choice. To each his own of course .

Warranty? Who said anything about that? Correct choice? It might be a choice, but that's about it.

Edit: And if you knew since '02 that a modification might be required to make it fit, how come neither your brochures, or your web site mention it? I little deceiving, don't you think?

I was addressing this comment by the original poster :

I really am only concerned with helping him make a decision as it seems as if he is looking to better the performance of his car . The modification of which you speak would require thinner materials and lessen the effect of the bar or the protection value to the strut towers. As had been stated by others this problem does not exist on every car and most people feel that the possibility of a slight bulge, unnoticed by most, is worth the gains . You apparently have other goals which is of course your choice. Thanks for the bump.

Maybe, maybe not. It would still be nice if you were as upfront about it as you are nonchalant. Truth in advertising, so to speak.

I agree-might be nice to know if there are additional issues specifc to MC about a product for instance. Does the battery box cause extra interference? I hadn't seen that mentioned anywhere before.

As is the case with most net issues you mostly hear of problems not the success stories. The vast majority fit with little or no problems as all or they would be easier to keep in stock Thanks for the post.

I have one on my MC and installed it myself so I can say with certainty: Out of the box it will raise your hood, it clears the battery no problem. The allen head bolts will hit the hood so I changed them to 'shorter' ARP 12 points. I had to grind/file a very small amout of the front of the plates. To avoid the hood lift I cut a section of the sound insulation pad the same size as the bar...now it fits without issues.

are there any drawbacks with this? in long run specially....
my knowledge is not very high about many of performance mods....i mean do you need diff suspension, shock or something or will it affect if you get diff suspension in future...how much difference do you feel in handling? and have to have the rear as well?
and it would fit 03 mc without any problem?

This is a stand alone piece with no long term negative issues as far as we have seen . There are many that have gone over 100k miles with no problems. It will not affect future suspension mods in a negative way. If you have any reservations give the shop a call and we will be happy to talk to you about it .

Unfortunatly the only " official " color we have is the silver . I would think that you could take our logo to any Sign A Rama type location and get one scanned and duplicated easily for a few bucks .
