Well for starters you shouldnt use regular gas, its an engine tuned to primo . Second I get 30 'round town.

My driving so far has (sadly) mostly been commuting on the fwy - sometimes terrible stop/go and sometimes 75 mph. That and shorter trips on the weekends. If I have a lot of stop/go and drive relatively hard when accelerating, about 28 mpg . . . if some more open, uninterrupted fwy and taking it easier on acceleration 33 mpg.

^^ You must drive like an old lady. My apologies to those 85-year old ladies out there who like to lay on the pedal.

I average 31.5. I run only premium gas and do most of my driving on secondary roads with speed limits running mostly 50 mph and with stop signs and traffic lights every few miles.

Mine is about the same.

And to the original poster, if you truly care for your MINI don't use regular gas. Spend the few extra cents and you'll probably end up saving more in the longrun.

I'm averaging 32.7mpg US over 23000kms right now, I use a spread sheet and manually calculate the amount of fuel put in vs the distance off the odometer.

To add fire into the high/low octane discussion, I find absolutely no mileage difference between 87 octane and 91 octane, the seasonal/temperature/heavy foot difference between each tank is more pronounce than using different octane. That said, I do feel a slight loss of lower end torque when using 87 octane. And I also live at 3000ft+, so that might have an effect as well.

Out of 36 fill ups I've recorded, 4 of them were with 87 octane (2 tanks in a row, then back on 91.. then after 10 tanks I tried another 2 tanks of 87). I averaged 33.1mpg in those 4 tanks.

I get this kind of mileage on my MCS (and this is by true math, not the OBC)

I get roughly 28-35 depending if I use the tank shifting @ 6000 RPM every throw.

I usually go a good bit over 75 on the highway. I was getting about 33 only highway. Now that I've found a few nice spots around town to really let loose, I'm getting about 25...That's still mostly highway, with some ragging on the petal in the city. I can't resist the roundabouts....

Thats based on my mileage/gallons from the pump. I'm not sure how reliable the OBC is.

Surprise

I drove over 100 miles today, all highway. After I filled up i reset my mpg. The whole trip I averaged 36.5 MPG and the best MPG i got along the way was 38.7. I was going on average 70mph and sometimes up to 90mph.(staying with the flow of traffic.) I was shocked the most I have ever gotten before was 32mpg. Im excited
