I am ready for my next mod...

I am looking to spend in the neighbor of $450 (i can strech a bit and savings are welcome)and would rather have a perfomance part be it handling or power than bling. in addition i would preffer something i could install my self (i did evertying but the piaas and the stripes...) if not than i would include install in that 450ish, i was looking at a SS kit but the install looks a bit nuts from what i hear, is that right?
what would you guys recommend? btw i am gonna leave the stock brakes until my free factory pads etc run out
