I was quoted $2700 for parts and installation at Ralph Schomp MINI in Denver, Has everyone else paid $1600 for installation?

That's way too much.

I think I paid for 3 hours of labor to have mine installed.

Make sure they are looking at the labor for the Sound Kit and not the full JCW Tuning Kit for the 'S'

MINI's estimated installation time is 1 hour. Maybe your dealer's labor rate is $1600/hr!

Here is the official PDF: JCW Sound Kit installation instructions

Check they're quoting the correct kit (p/n in that link above) - for a while there was a different MC upgrade that included a new head and whatever; labor for that would have been much higher

I think Ian (GBMINI) is probably on the right track. I just checked my old e-mails to my MA. When I ordered my '06 MCC, I asked them to install the Sound Kit when the car arrived. My MA also initially quoted me a price of $2700 installed. I told him it couldn't be right, and never heard back. On delivery, it was already installed and the labor charge was listed as slightly over an hour.

By the way, this was in September 2005 and the dealer had never heard of the JCW Sound Kit. The person ordering it called me up to ask what it was, and said JCW was only for the S! I finally convinced her when I walked her through the MINIUSA configurator and showed her where it was listed.

I think in this case, they're installing the exhaust through the engine bay so it'll require them to lift the engine.

Seriously, they shouldn't need to charge you more that 2-3 hours if even that.

I think I was charged for 2.

I was just looking at the installation instructions PDF, and now I have a question for the other JCW SK owners. Did you get the 'JCW fuel rail cover' with your kit? It's part 'E' in the diagram. I don't have that part and I'm wondering if I'm the only one.

No one can figure out what happened to my part, but they are going to order one for me and it should be here in about two days.

to MINI of The Woodlands. They've always given me great service.

It is an exhaust, intake, and ECU update. Check these links for more information:

MMmmmmm. . . Craptastic sound!

I'll go the cheap route and get MTH and a Miltek exhaust for$1200 installed and prob more power. No engine badges, though.
