Just like the M7 guy said ... still gotta make room for the return air pipe, air filter (under the car), and the oil lines. An air filter 6-8 inches off the ground at the absolute best in the back of the car just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

On a truck performance board, I've read of more than one who has soaked the intercooler by ingesting air and destroying the motor.

I rest my case ... just cause it's not forged doesn't make it weak! It will be weaker than the forged one, but it's still a strong engine.

Its doable but we decided not to persue the idea.

I've done ALL of that and then some! Plus, I'm no fatty. The dudes I went with for my CF hatch screwed me the wrong way and I used that money for a T-Mobile MDA and Motorola RAZR. But, will be buying both the hatch and hood here again shortly. And, you could say I have a "little" experience driving. If the TC guys can fit a turbo where the heatshield is...so can we. It's no different. Well, plumbing is but I see no problem ewith that.:impatient

I think a turbo and a 6 speed swap would be loads of fun!

There is a frequent poster on this board that did exactly that at our local shop. Perhaps he will jump in with come comments at some point. The 6spd swap was a little tricky but not a big deal.

Does that tranny require different axles? Does the shift linkage have to be changed too?

That is one of the major mods I would like to do, but would have a real hard time convincing my wife to go forth with it.

I'm very interested in this ....

After I finish building a motor for my truck, I may try and sell my wife on this one. Reliability and mileage is of utmost importance though, so that will be number one concern.

Just wondering if anyone here picked this up and actually completed this car?

Wow, he only got $11,800 for the Turbo'd Cooper. How sad.
I just picked up an extra rebuilt Cooper tranny from a friend that didn't need it anymore. He said it has a slight ticking noise in the lower gears. Not sure what to make of it.

What surprised me is how small the tranny is, having never seen one outside of the MINI. I wish I had a 5 speed Getrag tranny to compare it to.

Yeah I read that last year too... just wondering how the car is doing. So a bigger turbo huh? Sounds loads of fun, but kinda sketchy. The Cooper can handle even more power?!?! I keep hearing people saying it can't handle more the 155hp... let us know what your planning to do. Sounds interesting.
