S exhaust on MC

Has anyone ever tried putting aftermarket exhaust for a MCS on a MC? I currently have a custom built exhaust coming out the center of my car, and i have the MCS bumpers. Obviously the hangers would not be there, which can easily and inexpensively taken care of, but I was concerned about the clearance. I have removed the spare tire and all the strangely shaped heatshilding that inhabits the space stock, so i would think there would be enough room, especially since the MCS has the battery in the middle, and we don't.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,
Matt

I have heard of others that have converted the exhaust over to the S version. But if you have a custom magnaflow coming out the center, I'd leave it at that.

On another note, how's your tranny? I have an '03 with 52,000+ miles. The tranny feels sloppy, but doesn't feel like it's going bad.

Well...about that. Last summer/fall I ended up having it replaced under warranty. I took it in because it sounded like a toy car the gears were getting so loud, and my clutch started to slip in a very irregular fashon. It seems that the seal around the input shaft went bad and it was dumping oil into the clutch housing (causing it to slip go figure) and drip oil in the driveway. I took it into the dealer and they gave me a whole new tranny and clutch.

Other than that, its alright. I get the feeling that they are not nearly as strong as the getrag tranny's, but I'm not too concerned. I plan on eventually swaping out for a MCS motor and tranny in the future which will take care of that. What can you really expect though? The car comes with 115bhp...

I'm with BadMINI - you already have a custom exhaust..... But even if you're not happy with the Magnaflow setup, why an S exhaust?

Side note - I have an 02 MC w/ about 60K miles and (so far) no problems w/ the tranny.

It is just kind of loud with the straight shot out of the back. Also, prebuilt will be a lot prettier than what I got, which ultimately doesn't matter because no one can really see it. I was just toying with the idea, but it would be added weight in the end and more restrictive. I was just curious if anyone had done it before. BTW...I have 67k on my car....and my tranny went bad around 55-57k.

You might try adding a good resonator - added weight but you can find them at around 4 pounds (stainless) and it takes the place of a pound (or so) of straight pipe.

My brother is going to install a Cooper S exhaust under his MINI One. He has the stuff and exhaust already at home. At the moment we 're too busy with our stud, we will install it at summer holidays.

The exhaust is installed.
There is a little bit more roffle, but no plops like a Cooper S (in the Cooper S is that programmed in the ECU)

so this CAN be done? i have an 03 MC and was surfing on ebay and found an MCS exhaust along with the rear bumper.... my question is are all of the exhaust hangers present or would they have to be fabricated? is the spare tire removed and also, is there any re-programming necessary (i.e. ECU)?
