K&N (via phone) indicates the 05 drop-in filter will not fit the '06 (with Auto). True or False?

AFE Cold Air Intake

How many people have tried the AFE Cold Air Intake? I am looking at that one since the price is not much more than the K&N.

I was looking at the aFe from ProMINI, but they claim it won't go on a vehicle newer than an 04.

There's a guy in Houston who had to tweak one to fit his 06.

I got my K&N Typhoon from Mossmini using their pricematch system for $150. I found it online for $146 and included it in my order and they matched it without a problem. No need to pay $160 or $200 or get it from ebay for $150 ($135 plus $15 s/h).

I'll let you know about the drop-in. I'm going to use one until they make an aFe that fits without having to mod the structure.

If it takes to long for the aFe, I may just go with the K&N Typhoon (or 57i).

Dropped in the K&N OEM replacement filter last night. My first impressions are good for the price ($40). Althought there isn't a change in sound, it does feel slightly less sluggish from start.

I'll let you know if the gas milage improves once I burn through a complete tank.

I did that awhile back and there isn't much of a change in the sound but the mileage does go up by at least 2mpg.

I just got my K&N drop-in filter. I was supposed to get the recharging/cleaning kit, but it was not shipped. It is coming later. I assume that I do not need to apply the recharging to a new filter. True?

Ok, I know it's been a while, but after revisiting this forum and some more research, it appears that the 57i is the way to go, not only for the sound and performance gains, but what sounds to be an easy install. Any more opinions, before I make my purchase?

Here is my 2005 MC 5spd with the regular K&N Typhoon I got real cheap on ebay (always check feedbacks first, ) I can't get enough of the sound... when I pull in and out of the parking garage it's like a race car... Real tough sounding... and at 4k rpms it opens up... I don't even want to get an exhaust, it sounds so good.

I finally got my Typhoon installed and i'm very happy. Nice rip-roar in the low to mid rpm range but it sounds too much like stock in the higher rpm ranges.

Also, I have to have the windows open to REALLY hear it.
