I'm sorry to tell you....But if there would be a avalanch of calls for MINI (non S) parts I would certainly put some muscle behind it.....but the reallity is, no one calls for Throttle body's.....Really. So why should I stress out regarding other performance parts for the MINI when I sell all I can make for the S.

Show some interest and I will do my best to get parts to the market place....

I have met the m7 guys and even been to peter's house when the ags was being released. They are good people and mini nuts. Their only fault is they are extemely excited and enthusiastic about mini tuning and don't subscribe to the less is more (in terms of PR) philosophy. But so what. The fact that they let the the kitten (not even a cat yet) out of the bag early and we get to watch the stumbles along the way, has become a testament to thier focus on tuning and trying new things. Live and let live.

This was in no way sponsored by m7, but should be after the fact.

Aren't the posts to this thread an indication of interest in Cooper parts?

If a companies web site / catalog doesn't list what I'm interested in I'm not going to call that company and ask if they have parts that aren't in their catalog...

I can understand the overexuberance about all things MINI, and I can understand the demand for MCS parts over MC parts, but if you are going to put out a "teaser" and for whatever reason you can't deliver, then keep us posted on your progress or lack of progress.

It takes less than a minute to post an update or even a retraction. To ignore your "teaser" for two months is going to get you a few reactions.

Keep up the good work, but please don't promise something then get upset if we call you on it.

Honestly I'm not upsett

The only reason I'm not saying anything, is that I don't wan't my competitors
to ace me on this one. With that said I will do my best to have a prototype
at the Dragon......And please don't kill me for saying, that this thing is
incredible, and you will put it on your "Santa Clause List"

So give us a reason to call. Are we just supposed to call and bug you and other vendors about parts we don't know about or what? I tend to do my research online and the only call I usually make is to order parts unless I have a specific question/concern about a part. I would think your time would be much better served developing parts than yakking with 149 MCS owners on a weekly basis. I think there has been plenty of interest shown on NAM for MC go-faster parts (that actually work)

Santa Claus Now that's leading with your chin.

Sounds interesting, But My cooper is crashed and in the shop and maybe totalled, so maybe I will try an S out for the next round.

Either way, thanks for the explanation and I look forward to your next goodie.

In case anyone is still interested in the actual TOPIC of the thread....I have this M7 TB and I'm very happy with it. Swapping the new for the old is a snap - the majority of the work for me was getting the intake out of the way - after that the swap itself took all of 15 minutes. The obvious effect is smoother throttle response.

I have some question about fitting.

I saw a how to at: http://store.webbmotorsports.com/for...wtopic.php?t=6
It is for a Cooper S but I think its the same way for a normal Cooper right?

Is it just to take the old one out and put the new one on? No need the dealer for reprogramming the computer or anything else? I just want to make sure before fitting it

I will upgrade my ECU file (optimized for the new TB) but it will take a while (dont know how long it takes). Can I still drive my car without an optimized ECU file for the new TB? Will it damage my engine if I drive it without an optimized file? Or dont I have to worrie about it?

I haven't looked at the Webb link but it's mostly the same S vice non-S. The biggest difference is (if I remember correctly) you'll have to actually remove your airbox to get at it. As I wrote (above), that was the most difficult part of the process for me. It's not hard to figure out how to do it, I just had trouble getting the box past the intake snorkle.

The dealer doesn't need to do anything at all.....in fact, if you're still under warranty it's probably best the dealer not even know about it.....

I haven't changed my software since changing to the same TB and haven't had any trouble at all. That's not to say a software remap wouldn't help make the most of the hardware change, just that I don't think it's necessary.

If companies like M7 produce performance parts for non-S cars like mine I'm happy. We could have just took the easy way and bought S cars, but then you give up fuel economy and the challenge of making a slow car fast-which is a lot of fun. I'll be keeping my '02 MC for a long time, so I'll wait as long as is needed. -Jeffy.

Nice grammar! Just kidding. . .

From what I understand the main difference between the One and a regular Cooper is the throttle body, so upgrading that would help everything.

You guys need to back off, m7. Those guys are excellent, I call them when ever I have a question and they are always more than welcome to help. I am as excited as the rest of u for these new parts. Yesturday I called them about coilover installation and they were a great help even though they dont sell coilovers, one other placed a called gave me a bunch of lip since I didnt "support them". m7 is my favorite vendor, they are my first stop for parts and advise, keep up the good work peter.

I thought the main difference was just software. If you check some of the chip makers (like SuperChips, for example), it looks like the One and Cooper end up with basically the same numbers after just a software swap. I'm not saying the TBs are the same because I don't know, but this is the first time I've heard anyone mention that they might be different. You might be able to figure it out by searching the two different models on realoem.com.

Indeed, what 've understand are the motors the same, only the software and the drivegear. My MINI has a MTH remap.

Most folks seem sceptical of the value of modified TBs. I have this particular TB (I think I posted earlier in the thread) and I'm happy with the result. On the other hand, if I was worried about the return in hp and tq relative to cost I'd have to say the bang for the buck ratio might be a bit low. However, throttle response feels smoother and more direct.

I'm speculating, but I figure you get the most out of a bored out TB (in terms of hp and tq) if you've already modified things to the point where the TB is the narrowest point in stream.
