Back in the '80s, my dad had them on the 1976 International Scout Traveler I learned to drive. Sounded badass. But that was a 345ci V8 and a Scout is about as far as you can get from a ricer. I say if you like the sound, do it.

that's really cool, I just didn't want to get the ricer sound from a Mini Cooper

They took the drone away on my e34 with straight pipes. That's about all I can offer. They're just cheap resonators. If they solve a problem for you, rock them.

Not gen1 BUT - I replaced the muffler with a Cherry Bomb on my 1960 Mini 850. More than one commented How can a car so small make so much noise?

My guess is that it will sound a little ricer but not as much as the older Honda Civics. The ones that I see running around town are the 1 liter engines. Maybe put the Cherry Bomb in where the resonator normally is and leave the stock muffler? not sure what that would really do... I have the Megan Racing cat-back exhaust and it love it.

The fiberglass in a cherry bomb or glass packed muffler will slowly blow out, leaving you with a straight pipe and a lot of noise.

I personally don't care for them.
To me it's just noise with no other benefit.
