Ima noob to mods on my 2008 non S. I was thinking about starting off with an intake. I've seen a few threads and got confused about everything so my questions are;

I saw a K&n intake, would it be wise to just buy that and install it?
do I only need a high flow air filter?

I'm looking to get a better sound and maybe a better acceleration.

 

If you're looking for a better sound from your Cooper, look into a Remus exhaust. It has a really nice deep and throaty exhaust note. As for the CAI and throttle response, post #2 here has some good information. The Sprint Booster is like a short-shift kit for your accelerator pedal. We have an article here about the sprint booster that provides some good info about it.

 

A few CAI systems on the market for the Justa. I have the VIP CAI. Throaty sound, but- I have noticed 106-126 F temps at intake. its not really a CAI when it is located behind the engine and drawing heat from the engine. Really wish someone would manufacture a true CAI for these cars. Mine utilizes the K&N cone filter. I think the DDM CAI may draw cooler temps- not really sure as I have no experience with their product. The VIP is open to the top of the engine while the DDM is enclosed and drawing air from the front even though its located in the back of the engine like the other filter systems. Would like to hear feedback about the DDM CAI temperatures.
