Loss of Power

I have a 2010 mini hardtop with 45,000 miles. Lately I have been experiencing loss of power. Last night I was driving and I could not get my car to go over 40 mph. I was flooring the gas, but just would not go over 40. Also, when idle, the car makes a shuttering feeling about every 30 to 60 seconds. My check engine light has not come on, so I am confused. Has anyone experienced anything similar? or have any suggestions?

have you ever replaced your spark plugs, plug wires, or battery? have you serviced your coil pack (check lead #3 for wear)

are you keeping up with oil changes or noticing any spots on the ground indicating leaks that may cause low levels if unattended?

are you using the proper 93 octane fuel? ran some lucas in with a tank of gas.

have you ever cleaned or replaced your air filter?

those are good places to start if theres no cel.

a worse case could be faulty map sensor or o2 sensor, but those would usually cause a cel and dont usually fail that early in mileage.

Thanks for the info. I do use 93 octane, keep up with oil change, and I also did a fuel injector cleaning about 5,000 miles ago. The loss of power is intermittent. I tried driving it today and it was still a bit sluggish. but was able to drive at 60 mph.

well thats good. at this point if there is still no cel after continuous driving, i would rule out the o2/map sensors.

if youve never replaced the spark plugs, i would do that at this point even if they arent the cause if the problem.

the air filter is relatively easy to check, and can be easily replaced as well. another thing i would consider doing if its never been done, again whether its causing the problem or not.
