VIP Strut Plates Fitment Problem

Just happened to notice this when checking the oil today.

My right VIP strut plate is rubbing the bonnet and has put a very small dent in it too.

The top of the strut tower was hammered flat before installing. These have been in about 6 months now. The left is rubbing on insulation material, but it's less extreme.

Anyone else have this problem with these or any other brand strut plates?

WOW do you have a pic of the plate? I have these on my R53 and I also have the strut brace. the brace will indent the insulation a bit but the strut plates don't really look anywhere close to the insulation...

Not too surprised that the fit on the R53 would be more reasonable.

I'd be willing to bet this is happening on other R50s with them. Mine has never had any front end accidents and the strut towers were straightened out before installing. And it's just so easy to miss until you spot it once - then it's painfully obvious.

A few more pictures of the plates attached.

Taking these off the car this afternoon. I'm think I'll just sell on the marketplace and replace with Cravenspeed ones, which are more narrow.

not sure of the difference. Other then the scoop I thought the bonnets were the same. especially that far back.

Hard to say for sure, but I think the hood scope causes it to slope down at less of an angle, which gives a lot more clearance.

I'll see if I can find any side-by-side pictures that might show the differences.

He emailed back and did offer to machine them down for me.

I've found an R53 owner willing to trade Cravenspeed ones with me, so I'll be going that route - I think it will be quicker and easier.
