"non functional" hood scoops
The hood scoops on the S are fake too right? But I have to admit that I've always been jealous of the hood scoops on the S models. Anyone with hood scoops on their non S? Looks like the m7 scoops can some how be modified to fit non S? Or better yet anyone with a functional ram air set up? I'm not afraid to do some cutting....

The scoop on the first gen directs air to the intercooler. The second gen intercooler, pathetic factory joke that it is, is located way down low half-way shaded by the lower bumper lip. The second-gen scoop is quasi functional, half of the holes are open, and it helps mix incoming cold air with the hot underhood air. Unfortunately there is no place for the now heated air to easily escape from the engine bay, a situation I partially remedied by venting the upper rear area of my hood, as BMW should have, or made the side scuttles a little bigger and functional..

Its all good Babu.
Im thinking either some very judicious cutting (which I got hammered unmercifully for from some vectors) and scoop fitting, but sadly most of the aftermarket hood scoops scream "rice !!!!", or swap an S hood. I dont believe there's anything different besides the front scoop area. At least yours wouldn't require a dual layer insulator/heat shield to keep it from melting.

The 2nd gen hood scoop is purely cosmetic. When the R56 was first released, it was completely closed. Scoops started warping from the heat and MINI opened it up a bit with holes, but they still continue to warp anyway. I saw someone post that they have a new JCW and the hood insulation completely blocks it, so it is once again completely nonfunctional.
The hood scoop for the MINI Challenge race series has vents (it's closed in front).

What u want is the S hood. If u have a non-S u have a plain smooth hood. When I got my non-S Clubman I really wanted the scoop. I thought about doing a little fabrication to cut and drop in an OEM scoop but it just seemed like a little too much work. There is no cheap aftermarket S hood do I had to go OEM. My parts guy explained to me that the S hood is a touch longer so I may get a little overhang on the front bumper. He also said my headlights would need to be adjusted forward with washers. I had a JCW bumper in Sfitment installed and I haven't looked back since. It's expensive but I love the way it looks.

I'm sure you could cut the hole you want to insert the scoop into your existing hood but it would probably take a good amount of time to shape it cleanly. I had an E46 M3 power dome put on my E39 M5 hood but I had someone cut up an OEM M3 hood to send me just the power dome. I found someone who had a hood that was beat up. Maybe a shameless plug but I have an S hood that was hit on the front. If you are interested I could cut the hood and sell you that hood scoop "receiver" part, no actual scoop.
