New intake??

Hey guys I have a 09 mini hardtop, non s. I want to put in a new intake system in, but I am unsure of all the different brands they have. Its been awhile since I have looked into this, but I only know the big name brands. Wondering if you guys recommend anything specific to mini's. Also if you guys know of any bolt on mods that are easy to do and inexpensive.

We found the DDM intake to be the best avail.

As for other mods grab an NM Torque arm bushing, it's cheap and you'll see the difference.

+1 on these upgrades. Way is dead on - I followed his advice and these have made my driving experience so much more pleasurable.

Do you have concerns these mods (NM torque arm insert, DDM CAI, Sprint Booster) will cause warranty problems?

I was thinking of doing the DDM and/or the sprint booster but I decided I didn't want to take a chance on voiding my warranty.

It doesn't effect the warranty, something to do with how it doesn't interfere or change the operation of the engine? I"m sure wiser heads can expand on that. And I had Chad at Detroit Tuned put all them on (other than the Sprint Booster)

I like the DDM a lot, I want to install one in my 2011 non-s mini cooper, but I don't think its CARB exempt and I'm from NJ. I've heard of people running into trouble with it (police and inspection and such).

pardon the dumb mildly off topic question, but How many of those bushings would i need for desired effect? Or is it just that one mount that it effects?

I have the ddm intake and who cares about being carb exempt? Just put it back to stock when you have to bring to inspection of you are worried. My service advisor saw my intake and loves it. He never saw one that looked as nice he said.

Its the police I'm a little more worried about, I've known people who got into trouble over their cars and not having CARB approved parts.

mostly by sound, and they tend to check exhaust more, because its more obvious plus a CARB exempt intake is supposed to have a sticker on it saying so. Also they have been doing roadside checks with a mobile dmv inspection team.

I just listed mine for sale in the classified section. It is very loud, and too loud for my tastes. I had it installed for 24 hours before removing it. Asking 170.

I would take it off your hands, but I'm looking for a CARB exempt intake, which there aren't any for now.

Does this intake just change the sound or does it improve performance in some measurable way?

I use to have one on the side, but don't know where it went. It did show the 8 ft lb of torque gain we had.
