exhaust?

I am looking at a borla system but was wondering if there is a cheaper one out there. I don't want it obnoxiously loud, Just want better flow. Oh yeah its for a 2006.5 r50.

I have a magnaflow catback and love it to bits. Sounds fantastic but not in your face loud.

I have the Borla on my 2002 R50. I bought it used and it came with it. Not too bad or rice. Pretty deep for a 1.6L It does burble on occasion.

The Cooper exhaust from HKS looks nice too, but i've never seen anyone using it. I think it runs in the $380-$395 range last I checked.

I think the Megan comes in cheapest at around $390, Magnaflow is about $80 more, and the Borla is $690. I'm trying to decide on an exhaust for my '06 R50 Manual as well

Is there a difference between the 2006 and a 2006.5 cooper? I just never seen it mentioned like that before. I think mine is an October 2006.

The late 06 R50s have larger lug bolts, apparently. When talking about the R53 the later build 06 had JCW brakes.

Edit: Apparently the JCW brake thing might be bogus. Who knows.

Thread jack: I notice you have the same car as me with the suspension setup I'm thinking about: TSW springs and IE camber plates. How's it working out? Do you have any photos of the drop?

2005 and 2006 first gens are the facelift models. There isnt any difference from what I have seen. The very very late first gens (after april 2006 I think) also have a few lil quirks like the larger lug bolts (14mm as opposed to 12mm) as dannyhavok just mentioned.

That pretty much sums it up there. They are the main 3.

This is a pretty good example of a magnaflow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11mD9...eature=related

The setup up is pretty good, but I am not a big fan of the lack of drop up front. However, I think it is settling more over time, or I am just getting used to it. It's not bad at all. I also feel that the springs are a little soft for my liking, but thats my personal opinion. In the future I may just change to the new Swift springs coming out or go with a quality coilover if money allows.

I have some pictures in this thread:

Thanks, I see what you mean.. it looks good but the front does seem to sit a bit high. I'm considering the H&R as well, or maybe I should hold out for the Swift.

I have a 2002 Mini Cooper R50. I recently put the Borla Cat Back system on it, and love it! It is not very loud. It doesnt drone when at highway speed and seems like it gave me a little more juice in the pedal.
