Headlight Help Please!!!!!

So today I took on the task of doing a joey mod after reading many different testimonials on how to do so. I got the lights off and was trying to get them apart when I had an accident and now the clear plastic on the headlight has melted some. I am looking for advice on what to do. I attached a pic below to show how it is damaged, it is the best pic I could take. Anyone have any suggestions? I am desperate.

Thanks

Not something you can make clear again. Are you using the heat gun method or the two minute oven method at low temp ?

May have to check the marketplace for another light.

I was trying the oven method. It got a little to close to the top of the oven. The heat gun method seemed to not be working and it was bubbling the plastic, unless that was right and I was just to impatient.
So anyway, I know I have to replace the plastic somehow, do you know where I could do that from? Or could I order the 2011 already blacked out ones? Just another though...

MINI doesn't make blacked out halogens, so you'd have to convert everything to the Xenon lights which would be really, really expensive. Check eBay for a new light, I just saw some halogens on there today for about 50 bucks, depending on what side of the car that light goes on. You might be able to just order a new lens from the dealer too, I'm not sure how much that would run you though.

I agree with Drew, changing to Xenon would be expensive, plus it's not something you can if you're trying to just take a set and put them in. From what I have been told by a dealership that if you don't have the factory Xenon's you're not going to. The wiring has to be done pretty much on the assembly line and there is certain ecu programming needed to be done as well. If I'm wrong on this then please someone steer me in the direction of where I can get the up grades other than just switching bulbs.

Alright, so I got a new headlight to replace my mistake on the old one. Now I am going to try and do the joey mod again. anyone have any suggestions on how to approach it? My problem last time was getting the headlight apart; my heat gun seemed to be bubbling the side of the plastic. Is that normal or what am I doing wrong??

I would bake the light to give a nice even temperature if you want it apart. The problem is what are you going to paint? Thew halogen needs the reflective surface to give the light off and painting the inside makes the light very infective.

In the halogens you paint everything EXCEPT the reflective part.

It's been a while since I've done this, but this is how I remember doing it successfully:

Get your oven to 250 degrees, put your lights in there for 5 minutes (take bulbs out first) and then slowly pry the lens off. Let everything cool off, tape off the entire reflective surface, and then paint everything else.
