Cold Air Intakes
Cold Air Intakes
Prob ignorance and inexperience on my part, but for the cold air intakes like this https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ct/9079/cat/56
Are the filters washable or do you have to buy new ones all the time? Are they worth the investment?

With the aFe filter, you can actually get the aFe recharge kit and you would be good to go! I have the dry element filter and I love it.. Much easier to clean and maintain and you can get them from these guys here.

With any cone filter it can be cleaned and reused. If you don't get the K&N recharge kit (you should) I think they have directions on the K&N website that should guide you along the proper washing technique.
Yeah, the cleaning kit is a must if you go this route. Pretty easy to do. I had a cone filter from BMP on for bit (very similar to the one listed) and although it sounded nice, the perceived power actually seemed to lag a bit in the low-mid RPMs.
As far as whether or not it's worth it; depends on what you're after - aesthetics vs. performance. My experience has been that the greatest gains in my car have been with a K&N drop-in filter with the stock air box.
