How about just having the stock grille painted black? Seems like I've seen that done and it looks good. In fact, if it would fit I might like to try that on my MCS.

After seeing how well it turned out on Kwilson's car I finally made the decision to do it on mine as well. I think it turned out really well!

Excuse the dirt and poorly lit picture.

replacement grill and aftermarket driving lights

Will the new grill with holes for brackets take aftermarket driving lights?

Depending on what lights you get you might have to cut your own holes. If they're OEM lights you can get the "with brackets" grille from OutMotoring.com.

I couldn't wait to get the "gills" off, too. I ordered the JCW, just because it was the first thing I found and didn't know that the MCS grill wouldn't have worked anyway I'm wondering why it wouldn't... I also swapped out the chrome trim with black.

Here's before:

Love the new JCW grill, gives the car a GREAT look. I've had mine in for about 2 months now. Black out kit soon to come next.

That grille and stripes were the first mods I made on my MIni. The stock grille is just gruesome IMHO. As someone noted above, 15 minutes tops to install.

I bought a JCW grill off my pal inimini here. I think it looks great and it was painless to install. I later bought a new grill badge holder for it. I don't have any photos because I only just got it last November and theres little reason to photo my car in this horrible winter weather.

I didn't do the driving lights but I haven't ruled it out either. I'm really enjoying buying new decorations for my car. Eventually there won't be another that even looks simmilar to it.

Oxy - painting the grille is a great alternative - never considered that, but it looks great on your car.

Does anyone have the manufacturer part number for the JCW grill? Are the openings really bigger than the grill on the S?

Wow, I JUST noticed that look at tmo8462's picture. The one on the left has bigger holes where as the one on the left (the MCS) has smaller holes.

To answer the question about the JCW grill having bigger holes than the MCS's grill. Yes it does. They are a very noticeable difference in sizes between the two. Oxy the M7 grill is going to look sick bro! Oh I painted my factory a while ago while bored at the house one day. Looks good but Im more into the honey comb look of the JCW grill than the factory grill.
