ECU help?

I have a 06 Cooper and I'm going to install an Injen cold air filter, Iridium plugs, demon coil pack but what about an ECU upgrade? I'm pretty I need some re-mapping but do I have to spend $700? Are there cheaper solutions? What about those plug and play models you see on ebay? Or are those just a rip off? Any recommendations?

What kind of gains have you been seeing with a Cooper and basic bolt-ons, ie-intake and a catback?

depends on how well the car is running from the start

typical would be about 6-10hp
and 5-10 in places of torque

I think auto-x cooper will be doing a write up soon

Just had Jan tune my car this past friday. I picked up 7 Ft pounds of torque, and 7 peak HP. The main thing is the curve, my peak torque of 112.8 is at 2600 but still have 110 at 5000. Peak HP of 113.1 is at 5800. My car started at 106 Hp which Jan said was very good. Most are in the high 90's stock or close to it..I sold my Uni-chip to get Jan's tune and feel as if I have a much broader power band to play with now..

Impressive stuff! If I have the funds and time, I may have to find a slot the next time you're on the East coast.

Well regarding re-mappind and chips i have been extremely happy with my bluefin, from superchips, i have experinced an extreme boost when looking at both acceleration and top speed, as soon as i hit 3500 on rev i feel like im getting thrown back into my seat, i also gained a 10 km/h on my top speed. I gave 300£ for this re-map which is about 600$ totally worth the money imo.

Will your custom tune work with mods, such as exhaust and intake, added after your custom tune? Or will I need to get a re-tune?

you should always get it tuned after all the mods are on

Most think of it as just a means to get more HP, but it's also a very good way to keep from frying some pistons from running too lean.
