Which transmission?

I'm trying to figure out which tranny my Mini has.... Midland or Getrag.
Tried calling 2 dealerships (one was the one it was originally sold new from) and they don't know.
How can I figure this out?
Thanks.

Your car is from 2003 so it's a Midland transmission.
Starting from 2004, the facelift models received the new Getrag.

Kind regards

According to the original paperwork on it, it's actually an '04 (delivered in '03).
Great, more confusion.
Can you tell by looking underneath at the tranny?

No confusion ... if it was built prior to July 2004 it will have a Midlands transmission.

Getrag.

The Midland is known for its weakness and many people have had to replace their Midland gearbox.
However, the Getrag isn't exactly bulletproof either.
I also know a few people who have had to replace their Getrag.
But in general, the Midland is the weaker gearbox.

Kind regards

MIB was less than 7 months old and it spit out the synchronizer on second gear. Dryer and Reinbold gave me a R50 CVT/Automatic for a loaner. What a difference! Glad I went manual.

Well the bottom line is when D&R was done MIB was like new. Never had the problem again. MIB was a 2006 R50 5 speed.
