Thanks for the info. I have an 06 GP. I'll check before I order. I don't want to drill if I don't have too.
you have to. the '06 models have an extra piece welded on the shock tower. You are drilling roughly a 3/8" hole down low on the tower. I sprayed mine with underbody coating once the bolt and washer was installed (in the wheel well...to prevent corrosion).
Thanks for the info PGT. Would you recommend this brkt instead of the lower inserts that Madness sells. I've used the lower's before and they worked pretty well. Thanks for any info you have.
looking at the pivot point of the motor, the lower mount is in the better spot, but nobody makes a damper for down there. I've got PU inserts for the lower mounts....we'll see how that does in combination with the VIP upper.
I want to keep my LoTF damper but was wondering if this kit from Outmotoring.com replaces the mounts that the VIP damper replaces. Anyone know for sure?
How much difference would changing the lower engine mounts and the tranny mounts make? I know removing the "play" from the upper one makes a big difference, but how much movement will persist without changing the lower one and tranny mount? by changing the mount, I mean adding poly or a damper...
From what I've heard, the lower mount is responsible for about 60% of the engine movement. When I switched mine out to poly, it made a huge difference. Honestly, not that much nvh.
The big reason I bought the VIP was the OEM look and the lack of NVH, which are both good things in my book. Other than that, I know TSW makes a damper that many people like as well.
Sorry for the dumb question...buy can any of you elaborate on the benefits of this mod...what is achived by doing it?.
It helps to reduce engine movement, which in turn, allows the power transmitted through the engine/tranny, be delivered to the wheels more consistantly.

OK, makes sense...and at what point is recommended/needed?...I mean even an stock MCS would benefit or only a modified would?
I installed mine on my 2006 MCS back in February. It was an easy install and works great. No vibration and the shifting, transmission of power from the engine to the wheels is down-right snappy. Inexpensive and well worth it!
