which is the best r50 manual for a do it yourselfer?

Hiya,

I'll second that Bentley Recommendation. They now have the new edition that covers from 02-06. Manual must weigh 10 pounds.

2002 - 2004 version is five and a half pounds.

Is there anywhere to buy one that isn't $90-100? Cheaper than service fees...but still seems high?

I have the Bentley but I prefer the Haynes (I have both).

The CD-ROM service manual from BMW is also useful. Search on motors.ebay.com for "BMW TIS" (very cheap -- they are all pirated copies).
