Chili Red Engine Bling

So though Chili Red is faster, I doubt these mods improved my speed at all, but I sure like the look. I have a red coil on order which should look good. I could not bring myself to remove the supports and paint - too much effort but maybe some day. My thanks to 03Indigo for his inspiration and tips!

I first bought new parts finding them on www.realoem.com. I sanded down the ribs and other raised items on the battery & fuse boxes and lightly sanded all other parts. Then I used paint thinner as a wipe down and then I used a plastic primer. MyMINI's Chili Red was a perfect match. I then used a high temp engine clear coat over every thing.
The painted air intake hose was a cheaper alternative to the silicone replacements and I don't know how long it will last.
Other than that, take your time and and have fun, get creative and post pictures when you're done.

I have inspired GREATNESS!!!! Chuck, that is just awesome. Your attention to detail, sanding down the ridges, and the bulldog and flag are top notch additions. Makes me want to do more to my engine bay.

and from the link above, here is a pic.

To do the passenger side engine brace is easy..

just put a jack under the oil pan, and it's 5 bolts or so to remove the big AL thing that rests on the engine mount... But both those look great!

SHOW OFF !!!

Okay... can you tell I'm envious, Maybee ? Like your MINI wasn't eye-popping enough. Now you lift up that bonnet and pop even more eyeballs.

VERY NICE !!!!

hahaha - Thanks all. I was motivated by not even placing at my last car show. Got beat by (gasp) a pick-up. Now bring on the dudes with those funny hats!

Thanks for the tip Matt, but I never have trouble getting things off or out ... it's always trying to reinstall that causes me blood loss and sweat.

Chuck, I will always lend a hand with the mechanic-ing side of things, just say the word.
