Clubman grill?

Hello,

I'm new to the boards and just ordered a Clubman. I'm still debating between the Clubman and Clubman S, however I guess I have a month or so to make that decision. Anyway, I really like the black front grill that comes with the S. If I purchase a Clubman, is there a way to replace the normal grill with an "S" grill? If so, how? Thanks in advance!

Joe

I think that you can replace the chrome grill with the JCW grill that is black. Here's a link:

If I am not sure if the S grill works with the std. Clubman. However, as sbaker stated the JCW grill works great. Here's a before and after on mine for reference.

I believe there is. Just before I purchased my Clubman non-S second hand from the local BMW dealership, it had the honeycomb style S-grill. I was told that the previous owner (who is the head mechanic at that dealership, incidentally) had put the S-grill on because he liked the look of it. But he had a benign crash, and the shop mounted the chrome non S-grill as a replacement. Which I liked better, so I am happy.

Regards,
--Anders.

The issue with the JCW grille is that it doesnt match the lower OEM grill on the Cooper. That's not right in my opinion.

It is possible to fit the MCS grille, but it requires a tiny bit of trimming.

I dunno, if you check the photo it's a fairly close match. Works for me. But then I've never been one of those guys that must have their valve stems be in a matching position on all four wheels either.

I dunno....one's honeycombs while the other is a design that almost looks like rectangles stacked on top of each other.

MCS grill, as well as the MC lower grill looks like this:

While the aero looks like this and won't match the lower grille (unless you have the aero bumper too):

Another reference photo

It took about 30 minutes to install, but I could probably install a 2nd one in 10 minutes now that I know how to do it.

I have a Clubman and I just ordered the JCW grill (black) from OutMotoring. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the chrome bars...I like it on the original Mini, but not on the new MINI.

Cheers,

Does anyone have instructions for replacing the upper grill? I just received my JCW grill, and want to replace the chrome grill on my 2009 Clubman. Unfortunately, it's not obvious how to...I see that the top four fasteners need to be popped out, but I'm not sure how to unsnap the lower section.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I found this in the grille badge thread. It tells you how to remove the grille, so I think it might help.

Good luck!

Hey Rally...

Kinda bringing this back from the dead, but do you have a link to the trimming/modification necessary to make an MCS grill fit a Non-S?

I don't think the difference grills would bother me TOO much having seen on2wheels' pics, but it would be nice for them to be the same, if possible.

Thanks!

This is the one I saw. There may be an english version. I'm not sure. If not, you can translate (from dutch) with google.

I think pics probably don't show the difference as much as you'd notice them while standing there in person.

I'm still waiting for a BMW like vertical grill for my justa Clubbie. The wide horizontal grill makes it look that much wider. I'm still waiting.......

Thanks man! Glad to see not everyone is so highly critical on this issue even if I do apparently have some kind of b@stardized setup.

if i would have wanted a perfect and seamless look all around, I would have bought another Japanese car with zero trim accents

Casper the Friendly Clubman

After looking at everyone's photos I decided that Casper needed a JCW grill. Yes, I know (Rally) that it isn't an exact match to the bottom grill, but the chrome wasn't either. At least now both grills are black.

BEFORE

AFTER

FWIW, I've moved my badge holders since I took these photos. Now they line up with the stripes.

Do you want the chrome trim still or will you go black?
