Door Suggestions

I'm in the process of starting the strip down of my classic and we were looking over the body today to inventory what things really need work on. Overall there doesn't seem to be any rust and the floors look great. The doors are a bit bondoed so I was thinking it would be best to have them reskinned. Do you think I'm better off reskinning or finding a straight set to replace them with. The door skins themselves seem inexpensive at around CN$85.

Also do you know of any other classic MINI forums other than minimania.com.

thanks

Amit

skin 'em

concur - if the frames are good - skin 'em

very happy with mine (but done in UK)

suggestion tho - unless you've done it b4 and have the right tools I feel it is worth getting done right. With experience this isn't that hard. But the first time and w/out the special tools....a bit of a wrestling match. Helped a guy reskin a 66 Mustang door a lil while ago - said he'd done it b4 and we didn't need no stinkin' special tools. He ended up buying another door.....

Thanks guys. My frames look pretty good. I have a friend who has been doing restorations for many years helping me out. We will be working out of his garage and he has all the tools necessary. I did however just get an email from a guy parting out a shell locally. Doors are straight and have been professionally reskinned. Seems that the car has been sitting for a while so there is some surface rust which can probably be easily taken care of. I'm going to ask him how much he wants for them.

I'll keep you in the loop and will start a thread regarding the project once we get going.

cheers

Amit
